Blogs and EditorialsMust be able to report on trips taken, express opinions, and create discussion based on topics in an intriguing yet civil manner. Bloggers will be responsible for writing several pieces per week on current events in the ride and park world, trips taken with pictures, and expressing opinions on relevant topics occurring at the time. Good proofreading skills are also required, as you will be editing your own articles once you are through any training that may be provided. You will be required to know how to make your own titles and subtitles that will draw in readers, as well as knowing how to accurately quote and credit any sources you may use in opinion based pieces. You will be required to write a minimum of 2-3 pieces a week on a regular basis, with a higher expectancy of pieces during the peak season, as you will likely be traveling to parks more often and there will be more topics to discuss. Most blogs should run from a half a page to less than two pages in order to be concise. Bloggers may also write longer, multiple page pieces for the editorial section of this site for larger topics. This is an entry-level position and training can be provided if necessary. Those entering the training program after hiring will have an effective start date after their training is complete.
Contest and Quiz ManagerThe Quizmaster must have a vast knowledge of rarely-known ride and park information and resources for writing multiple fair, yet challenging questions per month. Quizzes should occur no less than monthly, with special quizzes made for special occasions.

Quizmasters should also have a photo editor and know how to use both basic and advanced features in order to make the photos from our galleries harder to identify.

The Quizmaster must also conduct regular trivia games for our Facebook Fan page such as Guess That Coaster, Coaster Trivia, and Coaster Riddles.
CorrespondentCorrespondents are Media Day and Event Representatives for COASTER-net.com. In order to be eligible for this position, you must agree to the following requirements, terms and conditions
  • Be at least 21 years of age OR 18 years old and in college
  • Be able to send us a copy of a current and valid Driver's License
  • Must be able to provide your own transportation to and from events and cover all of your own travel expenses including but not limited to lodging, food, and gas
  • Must be willing and able to travel at least 200 miles one way (approximately 3 hours) to attend Media Day events at various parks.
  • Must be willing and able to write at least one news story and one blog/review after each event. These articles will be due within 48 hours of the event ending.
  • Must own your own equipment to take high quality photographs.
  • Must be in "good standing" at the time of your application. The Administration defines "Good Standing" as exemplifying and portraying professionalism as well as the values, mission and vision of COASTER-net in your work and conduct, as well as acting in a way worthy of our trust.
  • Failure to maintain "good standing" may cause you to lose your Correspondent privileges.
Data Entry SpecialistMust know how to search credible sources for statistics and facts regarding to parks and rides. Data Entry Specialists will be required to regularly search for new information related to the sections they are responsible for and keep these statistics up to date.

Data Entry Specialists are considered part-time staff and must hold at least one (1) additional part-time or full-time position to be considered for full-time benefits such as Forum Moderator, Quizmaster, Photographer, and/or Blogger. Data Entry Specialists may also enjoy working with our Downloads department if they also enjoy ride simulation programs.
Downloads ManagerApplicants should be knowledgeable in and own (legal) copies of all major coaster simulators, including but not limited to Roller Coaster Tychoon 2, Roller Coaster Tychoon 3, and No Limits.

Also required would be a graphics-editing software (for reviewing sigs and avatars that have been submitted).

Applicants must be able to give time every day to handle verification and approval of all submission types.

Applicants must be willing to be Moderators, willing and able to provide assistance to those needing help with using the simulators listed above, and must be willing to give constructive feedback (both praise and criticism) in the Ongoing Projects section of our forums when our forum members post there.

Download Extras staff are also responsible for helping to monitor compliance with International and US Federal Laws regarding copyright. Should you suspect either a copyright violation or plagiarism, it is your duty to contact the uploader and ask for proof of authorship. If they can not provide such proof, then their work is to be removed and the incident is to be reported to the Upper Site Leadership in case further action needs to be taken.
EditorsApplicants for this position must have writing and proofreading ability and have an excellent knowledge of English spelling and grammar, and familiar with various different writing styles--specifically journalism (News), op/ed (Blogs and Editorials), essay style (Ride Gallery articles), and research and in-depth analysis (Park Gallery articles).

Applicants will also be expected to make editing changes to assist in adapt these types of articles to specific quality standards, and will be expected to check and validate News articles before they get published to make sure that journalistic integrity is maintained (there is no plagiarism or copyright infringement) and that no titles are misleading, and that every article conforms to the quality standards in place.
ModeratorsMust know and follow the Code of Conduct. Applicants for this position must have at least 100 qualifying posts and must have 0 warning points on COASTER-net and all of its partner sites. Moderators are expected to help the administrators correct spelling and grammar errors in posts, delete duplicate topics, review reported posts, and enforcing the Code of Conduct and keeping the Community a "peaceful and laid back Community."
News WriterMust be a competent writer of non-fiction. Previous experience in journalistic writing, especially that covering the theme park and amusement park industries is a plus, though not required. News Writers will be responsible writing several articles per week on current events in the ride and park world with short deadlines. Good proofreading skills are also required as you will usually be editing your own articles. You will be required to know how to make your own titles and subtitles as well as knowing how to accurately quote and credit sources. You will be required to write a minimum of 2-3 articles a week on a regular basis, with the ability to write up to 5 a week during our peak season. This is an entry-level position and training can be provided if necessary. Those entering the training program after hiring will have an effective start date after their training is complete.
Park Gallery AuthorThe author must be a proficient writer and exhibit thorough knowledge of the English language and must also be able to do extensive research as well as some investigative work. While we like authors to personally know about the parks they are writing about, Park Gallery Authors will need to be able to write about any park, including international parks. We recommend using Google Chrome to be able to quickly translate information from official park websites which are written in other languages.

The goal of the Park Gallery Author is to provide the readers with a vivid experience of the park's layout, history, themeing (if a theme park), and the experience of being at the park, even if they have never been there personally.

Park Gallery Authors will also be responsible for delving through the site photo archives to find appropriate pictures to add to articles and are also responsible for providing links to existing Park and Ride Gallery articles when mentioned. Park Gallery articles should be all inclusive of the parks detailed history, from its original planning and groundbreaking to which rides were added/removed when. Park Gallery Authors must also revise their work annually to keep the article content and links up to date with each passing year.
Ride Gallery AuthorMust be a proficient writer and exhibit thorough knowledge of the English language as well as demonstrating skill at "colorful and descriptive" phrasing. Must also be able to do extensive research and occasionally some investigative work. Ride Gallery Authors will also be responsible for delving through the site photo archives to find appropriate pictures to add to articles and are also responsible for being familiar with existing Park and Ride Gallery articles so as to cross reference and link to them.
Social NetworkingMust have access to Twitter and Facebook and other Social Networking accounts. A person with a wide network of connections with parks and other theme park websites is preferred. Applicants will be expected to be able to communicate by writing and speaking skills to communicate with media, theme parks, and other related ride or park organizations and web sites on a regular basis. Responsibilities may include contacting parks to get quotes or press releases for the News team, attend Media Day events or other special events and updating our Social Networking sites from the park. You will be an official representative and spokesperson for your site(s) you work for, and as such should always conduct yourself in a professional manner on your personal Facebook and Twitter accounts and while visiting parks.

You'll also be responsible for participating in some Sales & Marketing campaigns and assisting in the designing direct marketing materials, and participating in direct marketing at the parks and in your local community.
Staff PhotographerMust travel to theme parks on a regular basis and have good photography equipment (a camera capable of taking photos at 10 MP or better) and graphics-editing software (able to resize, edit, and watermark photos) in order to produce galleries of at least several-dozen images for park and ride pages.

Photographers should also be available to attend Media Day events and be able to write Photo Trip Reports (PTRs) and Blogs after their visits to parks. Please provide samples of your work by attachments or providing a link to your work in the Experience/References section of the application.
