So we have the top 10 this thread and the top 10 that poll already. Now I've had this idea for a while but finally getting credit # 100 has prompted me to get this rolling. This is my coaster rankings. All of them. Listed in order of favorite from 1 till the very end with every credit I've ever gotten included. Also included will be the ride manufacturer and ride type so that you can also look to see how they rate by more specific categorizations. So here it goes, and I encourage all of you, especially those with larger coaster counts to do this as well. Just for a bit of clarification, if there is a single ride with two distinct ride tracks with different layouts, I count it as two rides. If a dual track coaster is either a pure racer or a mirrored track design, I count both track as one ride.

Ha Ryan, thanks for the little pm to motivate me to list my rankings, but...

As much as I admire you and any of our members who can mix and rate their steel and woodie counts together, I just don't have that "ability"(?) to do so...I just can't.

I'd luv to ask and question you about some of your rankings, but you've always described and given your viewpoints very well on why you like a coaster or not, so that would probably be meaningless for me to question you now.

Some interesting personal ratings so far, I do hope more guys take the time to add their rankings and thoughts, keep it up.

Ha, back again without any rankings, but CoasterCrazy (Ryan) did give me pm permission to question his rankings...so even though I'm well aware of where he stands on most of his coasters, I just gotta compare a couple with my vastly different ratings.

First though, I did notice, for the first time, that you've had the pleasure and honor of doing all three Deja Vu's...lucky dog. My question would be why do you rate the West coast version a bit higher than the other two? Front row rides? Better weather? More stoked to do the survivor?

You've done over a 100 coasters, and that puts you well ahead of me and most members on this site. Included in that total are about a dozen "kiddie" rides, so that makes about 90 "big boy" coasters total. So with that truth I just will never accept or understand why Apollos Chariot is rated 46th, smack dab in the middle, a mediocre ride at best. I know you just don't like her layout all that much, but I have her right at #5 overall in mine. And even if/when I hit a 100 credits, she'll still be in my top 10, I'm sure. I won't bore someone as knowledgeable as yourself just how high AC is rated every year in the Mitch Hawker world poll, but she's still considered one of the best in the world.

On the other end of the spectrum, you have old, dismantled Python at #68, only a bit lower than AC, while I have Python about 5 from the bottom in my rankings, including kiddie coasters!! You even have the very fine Swarzkopf Looper Scorpian, from the same park, somewhat lower than Python, while I have her much higher...ah, different viewpoints!

More to say, but I just want to let everyone here know that I've known Ryan since he first came onto this site and I have nothing but TOTAL RESPECT for him as a person, his incredible zeal and knowledge of all things in the world of thrill rides and much more. I'm not dissing the man at all...just perplexed at his lack of luv for the sweet Chariot.

And let's face it, him and I just luv to mix it up when it comes to coaster disscusion...it's just who we arePosted Image

Now, none of you other guys have given me permission to dissect your ratings, so I won't...I wouldn't want to offend anyonePosted Image

I can't wait for someone to comment on my ratings. I would love to tell you guys why I like certain rides.

By the way Brad, I still don't know why you like Shockwave :P

I also don't know why you like Steel Force so much. Care to explain?

Steel Force because it had some of the best ejector airtime over every single hill and the helix was underbanked which produced heavenly lateral G's. Just an amazing ride.

coastercrazy, do you like B&M? They pretty much raided your top 30 :D

Not to say that B&M is bad, but that is a lot of B&M goodness there!!

LOL

Alright HCL,

Why is Fahrenheit so far up in your list? I think it is a good ride, but better than Alpengeist?

Also, which Lightning Racer is better? Thunder or Lightning?

Thunder and Lightning are pretty much the same ride so neither.

Fahrenheit is awesome. I rode front row the last time I got on and the drop is just insane followed by the amazing Norwegian Loop with the smoothest cobra roll of any ride I've been on. The following corkscrews are fun but not amazing. After that the high speed turn is great but the thing that makes the ride is the small bunny hop after that. The hill is amazing, it has the best amount of airtime I've ever had. The following high G turn is fun and then your into the breaks. It's just a relentless fun ride.

Alpengeist is awesome. For some reason it's best in the back. The first drop made me black out practically which is fine and the Immelman that follows is very forceful. The loop is fun and then the Cobra roll is just INSANE. It's the most forceful inversion on any ride I've been on. It sweeps you up into the MCBR and there's a huge jerk which is uncomfortable. You dive into the Zero G roll and I always get an annoying head bang. I also get a small head bang on the wing over but the end of the ride is still pretty solid.

Fahrenheit just finishes a lot stronger and it's more unique.

Coasteridiot, why do you rank Magnum so high?

Irish Coaster, why do you rank Excalibur so high?

I'm just wondering about both.

Coasteridiot, why do you rank Magnum so high?

The air-time! Out of all the coasters I've ridden, Magnum has the most extreme air-time...and I love it. You are just flung out of your seat on every single hill during the second half of the ride, and I also love the tunnels the ride has and how it is right on the beach.

Brad, why do you rank Hypersonic XLC so low? It must be better than mine trains and wild mouse coasters. Also, what makes Wildcat better than Lightning Racers and why is Lightning so much better than Thunder?

Irish coaster, what makes Yankee Cannonball better than a lot of the other coasters on your list?

HCL, what makes Volcano 20th, and Raptor 40th?

And lastly...Coastercrazy. Why is Mystery Mine so low!?

Am I detecting sarcasm? ;)

I am also surprised. I don't see Mean Streak at the bottom of everyone's lists. What's going on? I can understand if you haven't ridden it, but really? I don't see how a coaster can get any worse.

Hypseronic XLC because it was supposed to be this ultra-thrilling scream machine... however it was a rough, un-enjoyable, short ride.

Thunder was slightly rougher than Lightning and Lightning seemed to... I guess "flow" better?
And Wildcat because it kicked your butt in a good way, it is so intense and powerful and smooth.

Volcano is at 20 because it's to short. It's fun but it's not a great ride. It's really repetitive and the best part is the last drop which goes straight into the break run sadly. It begins to pick up right when it ends.

Raptor, well lets just say I don't like that ride one bit. It's rough and not to fun.

Anyone can also ask about my ratings, even though there's not much to talk about.

Now these questions go to CoasterCrazy, why Apollo's Chariot so low? Its a great ride with amazing floater airtime, why rank it bellow rides such as Shockwave and Scream (SFMM)? As well, why Big Bad Wolf ahead of Apollo's Chariot and Loch Ness Monster? Maybe it was because I rode it in the rain, but for some reason, other than the theming and the giant drop over the water, the ride just didn't seem to meet my expectations.

Let me start off by saying that I love all of the discussion this thread has caused. Reading your reasonings for you rankins is really, really fun. Sorry I haven't been too prompt on answering questions but this has been a very busy weekend for me. So, from the top:

@BJ
AC: I tired to make it very clear that my rankings do not necessarily match my ratings. This is the list of my favorite coasters, not the best coasters. AC for me was overhyped by everybody who had ever ridden it. I came to that ride with expectation way higher than I should have and thus was overwhelmed. Also, I'm not a huge fan of raw speed coasters. And if it is a ride built primarily around speed, it had better have some good lats or some great air. Obviously AC has 0 lats. Its helix is worthless in my opinion. As for air, perhaps I rode it on a bad day but I could feel every single trim and I never felt like I got negative, or even 0 gs. Yes is does have a superb first drop but I had already done Griffon earlier in the day and nothing can compare to a DM drop (though Diamondback comes really close!). So yeah, all that combined is what puts AC where it is. I totally understand why some people rank it higher but this is just my own personal opinion.

Python v. Scorpion: The biggest difference for me is the trains. I don't fit in the Schwartz mini-looper trains. That combined with the fact that when ridden from the front, the loop tends to compress your spine just makes for a fairly uncomfortable ride. I will say the the epic headchopper helix is one heckuva finale. Python was just a great example of the classic Arrow corkscrew design. When ridden form the back it provided decent air off the drop and just the perfect amount of hangtime through the corks.

@ at5626: Yes I am a big fan of superb Swiss coaster engineering. You may have noticed though that I don't have many Intamins on my ride list and certainly none of their world class coasters. I also think that your top 30 comment was a bit unfair. #s 20-30 only include 3 B&Ms. They did almost sweep my top 20 though.

@ coasteridiot: My low rating of MM was an easy choice. If you read my Dollywood review or comments in the Eurofighter thread you would have heard my borderline rant on the general uncomfortableness of that ride. Yes the dive off the tressle is sweet and the roll into the twist and dive is pretty tight but the rest of the ride I just hated. The theming is sublime but theming does not a coaster make.

@ Irish Coaster: I am a huge fan of suspended coasters with insane amounts of lats. That swinging motion is just something that you cant get from any other ride. Swinging that close to the scenery only enhances the feeling. And as you stated that drop to the river is incredible. I think I already covered AC pretty well, and as for Nessie, here is my opinion on all Arrow loopers that were built pre-computer design software: turns = bad; inversions = good. LNM has only two inversions, but lots of turns. Don't get me wrong, its a great ride, just not a personal favorite.

And now for some questions of my own.

@HCL: I'm curious as to how you rank SooperDooperLooper, the small Schwartz looper, over SFA's SROS, an Intamin Hyper. Also I would love to hear your comparison of outdoor vs. indoor Premier spaghetti bowls and why Joker's Jinx is 10 places higher than FoF.

@ Coasteridiot: I know I'm an Arrow fanboy that particularly loves their suspended coasters but even with that aside, I don't see how you could rate KI's Flight Deck as low as you did.

@ Brad. Griffon and Possesed are both lower than I would have expected to see then. What's the rational there?

@ Steel-Rock: First I just want to thank you for how much time you took to make that list. But there are a few things on there I don't understand. The first is why Backlot Stunt Coaster(s) are so high? The second, and bigger question to me is how could rate SheiKra so low? Also, Kingda Ka and The Incredible Hulk seemed to get shafted in your results. I'm interested in the desparity between your rankings of DD Fire and DD Ice. Most people tend to rank them fairly close together. Oh and though I kinda understand why, it makes me sad to see the Matterhorn at the bottom of your list.

And just to put this out there again, I'm with BJ in the fact that I have the utmost respect for these guys, their opinions, and their love for coasters. But I do love to prod, and debate, all for the love of the game. :D
This side of eternity is short - make the most of it.

Griffon because once you really start enjoying the ride you either stop at the MCBR or stop for good. I mean it's much higher than it used to be.

Possessed because I've never been so sick on a coaster in my life. I rode it twice, both times it made me sick. It just wasn't fun. And the holding brake made some noises that were less than calming, they like screamed... just not a fun ride, to me.

Flight Deck just was not a fun ride! I thought it was short and way too rattley. The layout was repetitive and the ride just did absolutely nothing for me. I also sat in the back, which imo, is the best seat on suspended coasters.
