How many people are interested in a site-wide meet-up at CP sometime next year? We would probably do it during a weekend or the summer, possibly Halloweekends.

So, who is interested?

  • SnooSnoo
  • BJ KoasterKooK
  • biZarRo

I'd say try for summer so that everyone can be wearing their Official COASTER-net T-shirts, and we can easily spot each other ;)

Yes, summer please. I'm booked through September/October with school and band (I had to cancel a few planned trips already this quarter to KI's Haunt).

Do NOT choose a weekend. That would be horrendous with lines out the wazoo and crowd galore.Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

I also would recommend we stay up near Sandusky together as most of us will be doing some mass traveling to get to CP.

^Yes, we should also account for the hotel stay. But that will probably be more of an issue for next Spring :P

Why don't we make it during Coastermania 2011? It usually falls first weekend of June.

I would think it would be really crowded, though. Is it?

It wasnt bad when I went. Most of the main rides had at most an hour wait when I have gone that time a year.

I'd like to join, but if I do I'll probably just drive down for a day to save on cost a bit. Or I may be there already wearing a Cedar Point uniform since I'm debating working there next summer.

As do I, that won't stop me if I'm available...it's only about an 8-hour trip....lots of people would be coming from VA (carpool?). The problem is going to be housing everyone, though that can be arranged if you know what you are doing.

Please.. PLEASE don't be a group of huge TPR tools and wear the same shirt. Having a meet up time will work just was well.

I'd be down to go.. heck maybe bring a few CFers with me. We've had meet ups at CP since 2006. :)

Great to see some enthusiasm! Now that I see interest, what days should we specifically go, in your opinion? What's convenient for you? Which hotel do you think we should stay at?

We all know better than to think that EVERYONE will be at exactly the same place at exactly the same time. Wearing something unique (like our site's T-shirt) will help those who come late or those who come early and are already in the park find us (and help us find each other if we get separated). I know I for one am not standing around at the front gate all day with itineraries waiting for everyone to show up. I would be in the park enjoying myself. So, if you aren't there on time, look for the guys in the COASTER-net T-shirts, because I'm sure that at least all the Staff members who are there that day will be wearing them.

P.S. How could you compare our AWESOME T-shirt to a TPR shirt....that's just heresy :P

You do know.. that is what PHONES are for Daniel. They are crazy unique because you can call people, no matter where they are, and meet up with them! It's crazzzzy.. might be voodoo. ;)

As an example, we had a meet up for CF at CP about 4 years ago. We had between 15-20 people come together and what would ya know, we were all together by 11am.. including 2 from England and 4 traveling from Georgia. So don't give me that crap Daniel. ;)

Setting a time and place WELL in advance can get people together quite easily hun.

PS: Never said your shirts weren't as good or better Just that people are tools for wearing them. :P

Not all of us have "Unlimited everything" plans though. I have a pay-as-you-go plan, so, again, I wouldn't play telephone tag all day either. I have better things to do like ride all the Intamin rides that weren't there last time I was at CP (last time I was there was my senior year of high school in 1999).

I'm just saying that I would expect everyone that is going to come to be there at the right place, at the right time, and if you aren't, don't blame us. CPF is going there to ride, not play chaperon all day.

I'm glad there is so much interest too.

As for a date, I say we shoot for around mid June. That should be before the "everyday thunderstorms" in July and before the blazing heat of August. We shouldn't go RIGHT after everyone gets out of school (that would be as retarded as trying to go on a Saturday). I'm guessing sometime around the 3rd week of June should be pretty good.

What does everyone think?

I would love to but most likely won't be able to. I'll either be in FL with the full time job, or in CO with a full time job.

This side of eternity is short - make the most of it.

Would this include the water park too?

It's not going to "include" anything. You all will be responsible for your own tickets, so, if you want to buy a ticket that gives you access to the water park, sure. If you just want to ride coasters all day, then go for that. The only thing we may do together is try and arrange some places and time for people to have lunch so that we don't all rush one restaurant.

EDIT: We are now planning on LOTS of extras being included. It just means that the cost of the trip is going to be higher, BUT it will still be a lot cheaper than if you bought everything yourselves.

I'll let you know more as I know more, but for right now, I am looking at including tickets, food, drinks, and POSSIBLY hotel rooms in the price of the trip. Everyone will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the event.

Oh, and to be absolutely positively clear, anyone under the age of 18 would need to be accompanied by an responsible adult, preferably related to you, and you must stay with your parent or guardian at all times. I am not going to be able to keep track of all the minors that could be there. This is a better option than saying that you can't go if you are under 18 (because most of this site is under 18). This is the law, not just me being picky, and the site could be held legally and financially responsible if anything happened to you on a trip like this if you were not properly supervised.

So, yep, I know, I'm the cosmic killjoy sometime, but part of my duty is to make sure that the law is followed while everyone still has a great time. If you have a parent or guardian there, and they let you run free, then that's on their head, not mine. That' why you need to have one there.

I like the mid-third week of June idea...for many reasons. If I can balance the work/family demands going into this time period then perhaps I can join the fun.

And to weigh in on the T-shirt debate if I might; hey Snoo-Snoo, your a big CF guy with more "meet up" experience than probably 99% of us here. So for you, it probably does seem a tad immature or 'tarded for COASTER-net to do this.

But hey, this is a whole new deal for this site, a meet up, and some new, cool t-shirts...so I think it would be more than appropiate to incorporate this for this "trip". Perhaps as we mature as a site and if this is a success it wouldn't be quite so necessary in future years, who knows?

Also, if I can pull it off, and we have a common itinerary, I'd be glad to drive a couple guys from my mid-Maryland starting point to help pool some of us Md/Va members. Well see...

PS; I've also chaperoned many a 13 - 18 year olds at parks, sooo, if that was a necessity in some way, I might be willing to "help out" if we could work out any legal scenarios...just saying...
