I feel like putting a "whirlpool" on a mat slide would be a horrible idea.

I'm sure you guys are familiar with the Schlitterbahn chain of water parks in Texas (with one in Kansas). Anyways, their New Braunsfels, TX location is getting something massive. Its a 3,600 ft long flume with a lift and tons of water effects like rapids, whirlpools, etc. I'm guessing this will beat out Holiday World's Wildebeest for longest water slide/flume in the world.

I always had this idea of dueling tubers. Riders would sit in larger, high walled tubes, and the slide would be a wider version of the family tubs type. They would send riders down two, or three at a time, and they would bounce off of eachother as they race down the slide.

A giant water slide maze would be amazing too.  Have a bunch of slides start at a top platform and land at a bunch of middle platforms where riders pick more slides...if they pick the wrong one, they wind up in a dead end and have to go back to the top via stairs/or ladder..sometimes they'd go to the top or to a previous platform not at the top.  They could wear a timer and see how fast theyd make it through the maze.  Make these all enclosed tube dark slides as well as domed platforms so they could not see ahead and make all the platforms identical so they could not tell the difference.  Every season or couple of weeks, change the slides out so it is not the same eevry year or period of time so repeat riders could do it over and over and still be a challenge!

I looked on the Schlitterbahn website today, and the one in Kansas is getting a water slide/tube chute on mats. I'm still wondering how this will work out.

What are you confused about? Seems pretty straight forward to me.

No, it's a chute. Which means it will have pools, etc. It seems like they would be smarter than that.

Schlitterbahn KC is adding like 6 different things this year. Two of them are mat water slides and they are also adding a separate tube chute.

Here's the list of rides: http://schlitterbahn...ons/default.htm

I found this today. It made me laugh so hard! But then I realized how dumb the designer was. Read the comments for some comedy!
Relating to the video, I wish that someone could find a way to safely include airtime in a water slide.

I actually do have a safe way to include airtime on a waterslide. End the run with a slight uphill ramp and a deep splash pool. Launch people into the air and then they drop into the water. I'd ride it.

I've been on pretty much that exact slide complex before. I'll admit that I pulled myself into the tunnel at the top really hard and I got a bit of airtime. However, to get the amount that kid did he obviously had to try pretty hard and he had to know he was directly putting himself at risk. At that point I think it falls on a lack of intelligence by the rider than a lack of thought by the designer. Its like blaming an architect for someone jumping his building kind of.
