Well the Official Contests forum has been quiet for a while but its game time again! We've got a whole new set of contests lined up for this year that you'll all be excited to watch and participate in. To kick things off, we're doing a photography contest and everyone is invited to join in, regardless of skill, equipment, or style. This one is purely for fun. There will be 5 categories and the winner of each category will have their pic published in a main page update.

Here's how this is going to work. The five categories for this contest are: Flaura, Fauna, Landscape, Cityscape, and Theme Parks. Each participant can submit one picture for each category (you don't have to submit a pic in every category). Two weeks from today, at the end of February, all of the entries will be compiled into a poll and the C-net membership will vote on the best picture in each category over the course of a week. The winner's will be announced on Monday morning, March 7th.

So without further ado, let the game begin!

You're free to use older photos. And you do have 2 days in February to take pics and post them up before the submission part of the contest ends.

To keep everything "fair" and to keep file sizes low, page load times high, and to prevent issues with stretching of the screen and problems with the judges viewing the pictures, all pictures should be re-sized to 800 pixels in width (see Ryan's photos as an example).

Keep the same aspect ratio as your original photo. This way we can scroll to see the entire photo if necessary, but will not have to zoom out (which would distort the aspect ratio of the image sometimes).
