Contest Suggestions

We may not take every suggestion, or we may choose to wait on a contest if it is too similar to one we have just finished, or we don't have a judge for it, or for any other reason.
Thanks for you help.

THEMING CONTEST
Track will be pre-fabricated by host so everyone has an equal head start. The track cannot be modified in any way or form. It is up to the contestant to design the station, supports, walkways, and park layout around the roller coaster. Terraforming is allowed.
Given the intensity of such a project, I will advise at least 3-4 months of working time. (i.e. I spent roughly 4 months on Immortal).
Judges will need to look for the following things:
> Ride safety: Will the riders lose an arm or leg when riding? Are the support adequate?
> Aesthetics: Do the supports or park layout detract from the look? Maybe that Eiffel Tower wasn't such a good idea.
> Theming: Have a crashed spaceship as a station? Queues going through rooms filled with explosive containers? WANT.
I was also thinking about an RCT3 high speed rail station buillding contest, but not only does that go against the "For everyone" idea, but also because I don't have the necessary materials for such a venture.

And that's not even in my favor cause i can't download any of them right now!
2. Download Extras coaster draft?
Three rounds.
Round one could be RCT2 coasters, Round 2 could be RCT3 coasters, and round 3 could be NL coasters!
3. On-ride picture/video contest.
I know this one might be harder to do, may cause trouble, and is subject to cheating, but it's worth a shot!

I Maybe the contestants can choose from multiple tracks and can change the type of coaster?

I had thought about that, but then the problem arises: how do you ACCURATELY judge between two contestants if they are using two different prototypes?
The DE contest has a flaw in that participants need to have all the said skills. Note that skill in RCT2 is slightly different from skill in RCT3, and skill in NL is completely on a different plane of existence.
Lastly, I don't mean to back-mod, but don't double post.

Then there should be requirements for each of the prototypes. For example, For every coaster, you would need a custom station, some kind of custom MCBR theming, a building it must go through, a custom tunnel, etc...

It's not just a matter of the elements that constitute good theming--if you look carefully at most themed rides, it's the transitions between the elements, the straight stretch just before the loop, the gentle curve before the corkscrew, that require the most attention. You can't really theme a loop or a cobra roll. Given that, I doubt that even with the same elements and the same sequence, there is no true way to compare the two.
Lastly, imposing restrictions or requirements on contestants is something that destroys the very core of the contest. It's supposed to let the contestant come up with everything, from terraforming to choosing the time and era of the theme. It's presenting the contestant with a canvas and letting them draw their own design. I can imagine that the results can be as far apart as the north and south poles: no need to confuse things further with different canvases.
One design = one standard. One standard = easier and fairer rating. It provides the judges a way to directly compare contestants. Why not just keep it nice and simple?

Not a contest, but just see if people can do stuff on any kind of restriction that the game has.

Contest of what? RCT/No Limits?Or a knockout tournament style contest. People would sign up and the moderators would randomly select pairs of contestants for the first round, and the tournament would continue on a bracket and there would be finals and all that jazz.

Since we'll be close to 4th of July, want to do something "Patriotic" (sorry to all of you not in the US, and special apologies to you guys in England, but we love to show off our Red, White, and Blue for the 4th of July).

Also, we could do a team contest. One team member would do track, another would do supports, and another could do theming, etc. And it would be team against team.

The "prize" for the GLA's is pretty much bragging rights until the next year, and most people that win an award put something about it in their sig.

I just thought of an idea to have a RCT contest where you have to construct a park, at least 3 coasters, but they have to be in-game designs. They can't be custom.
