Alright everyone it's time for a summer contest. Now that everyone is out of school we figured you guys were ready to design some rides!

Sign ups begin today, 6/12/11 and will continue until Tuesday, 6/21/11. You must be signed up by 11:59 PM EST on the 21st to participate. The contest will be simple, design a coaster and submit it into the Downloads section. There will be a special category for the contest that you will upload to. The rating system will serve as our judge, so everyone will have a say in the winner.

There will be a theme and you must design accordingly. The theme will be announced on Wednesday the 22nd, you will have two weeks to work on your coaster. Your submission must be in by 11:59 PM EST on July the 6th.

Here are the rules. Only scenery objects downloaded from the COASTER-net Downloads or the packages provided for you by the judges are allowed (trust me, this isn't as bad as it sounds). Anything else is not allowed. You may upload YOUR OWN custom scenery packages to our Downloads area, but you cannot upload someone else's without WRITTEN authorization being sent by US Mail, fax or scanned and sent as an e-mail attachment (preferably a PDF). In game cheats and hacks are allowed.

The captions the coasters will be judged on are:

• Forces (while we're not going for a "recreation," we want something "realistic." Sustained periods of high g's will hurt your score, as will having NO g's.
• Layout/Trackwork/Elements (Remember to go with something that fits with the theme)
• Structure and Supports
• Theme

I'll join, but don't expect it to be good, because I won't have much time to work on it. Could we possibly get a time extension?

There will be only one round, and it will last only one week. We've had too many issues with people dropping out or not finishing contests when we make them too long, so this one is going to be SHORT. There will be no extensions. Two weeks will be plenty of time for you guys for one round. Another thing not stated above is that we will not allow recreations. These must be your own original designs. So, start sketching now if you want to.

Howso? I know you can make CS (and have made it). Just upload them to our RCT3 Objects so you (and everyone else in the contest) can use them. It gives everyone a level playing field and still allows CS. It would be illegal for us to let you use CS that you didn't create, so this is as far as we can go while staying within the law. You have 10 days to get your CS designed and uploaded that you think that you MIGHT need.

Lol I don't make cs and alot of the cs and ctrs i use are not in the download section.

Well, you have 10 days to talk to people and see if they'll upload them for you. You have plenty of time to get ready....don't quit before you even try. I'm pretty sure without CS you could still put up a good fight, and you'll still be able to use what we have available (same as everyone else will)

Custom Scenery is what makes a ride in RCT3, and the selection here is very scarce. I say if you use other CS, just throw it in a .zip with the ride file.

Why is everyone complaining about Custom Scenery? I make all my stuff without CS, the only CS I use are some catwalks I downloaded

Just do what Daniel said, ask that the original creator upload to the D.E. Not that hard.

I'm actually willing to consider since this is a "short" contest... but only if the contest gets moved back one week. I will be having final exams for junior year until the 28th, and since this is Taiwan, well, I can't compromise that.

You'll understand why it's the week that it is later. I don't really think we should move it (it has something to do with the contest, but I think I said too much already).

I did, and I know for sure there are going to be some more sign ups from some of the podcast staff members and listeners that just joined.. We might be doubling the number of people in the contest.

Alright, I'm not sure that I'll be able to post this from home later, so I'm going to post it a little early.

In addition to any of the scenery in our forums, you may use any of the scenery package in the NetOn packages hosted here: http://neton.rct-net.de/ (please use the English versions).

Pay attention to where the download is going, especially if you have Windows 7. If the path doesn't exactly match what the program expects you won't have access to the download. There's enough information out there about this that you can figure it out.

Use these files at your own risk. COASTER-net is not responsible for their content or any incidental or consequential damages resulting from their use (since we do not host the files).

You may still continue to sign up through the end of the night tonight (11:59PM Eastern is when sign-ups will end).

The theme of the contest will be announced tomorrow by Thunderhead.


DON'T FORGET THAT YOU NEED TO SIGN UP BY 11:59 PM on the 21st to join the contest.
