According to SFGAm's Facebook page, a big announcement is coming August 1st. Could it be Iron Wolf headed to SFA? A new roller coaster coming? American Eagle Blue running backwards again? I guess we have to look at the day by day clues they are going to give us. Here is the first photo.

Again, I'm pretty sure the early August announcements at many of the parks are going to be about their Halloween Haunt events and they are just hyping them up. It's a little early right now to be making announcements about rides, usually that's only done when construction has gotten to a point where they can't hide what the ride is anymore. As SFGAm hasn't even laid any footers yet for any addition, I doubt this is a "big ride announcement."

But, we'll see on August 1st

My guess is American Eagle will be running backwards for Fright Fest. I certainly hope SFGAm provides a theme for Fright Fest this year. Usually it's just a few objects laying around the park with netting and webs on shrubbery.

However, I still believe a new attraction is coming for next year. They just won't announce it until September/October.

I disagree. I feel the announcement will be early so everyone can get their last rides on Iron Wolf before it closes for good.

^If rumors stand true and they take it down around Labor Day, that will give a good month for people to ride it. I guess that is very possible. I'll make another post later once SFGAm releases another clue on their FB page.

The only thing that concerns me is there is no markings whatsoever near Iron Wolf (as of Monday via personal observation). You would figure if they were tearing it down they would need to at least mark the gas, water, and sewer lines.

Yes, they would need markings up soon. Did you see any markings by where they are tearing up GAR? I heard there were flags, but that's probably because they are taking GAR out. There are just so many places a new attraction can go into. You have Trailblazer's spot, SWF/GAR spot, and possibly Iron Wolf's spot depending on how things go. There are just too many areas being cleared to not have a new attraction coming.

I didn't notice any markings. Here is a picture of the area I took in early July:

My thoughts exactly. I think this is just another Screamscape rumor. But, as I said before, we'll know soon enough.

I thought I read somewhere, maybe Screamscape, that dispelled rumors about Iron Wolf moving. I'm pretty sure that's staying.

I can kind of make out these words...

  • Location in County Fair
  • Work of Demon?
  • Need to have?
  • made
Chances are, they are announcing AE Blue will be running backwards during Fright Fest. They might still announce a ride, but probably not until September.

They may be announcing removing Iron Wolf and some Fright Fest plans. Then later in the Fall, they will announce the plans for next year. Whatever happens it must be big. On the SFGAm FB page it stated that the first 100 people who raise $100 for Walk in the Park charity will receive a personal phone call of the big news for 2012 early.

It now says "It's baaack!" This could mean...

  • AE Blue runs backwards again
  • American Eagle is getting topper track (which is going to happen anyways)
  • Sky Whirl is coming back! (joke)

Looks like the big announcement will not be on August 1st. The August 1st announcement will be......... American Eagle running backwards. Thanks WGN out of Chicago for leaking the info... (they have since removed the video).

I figured that from the beginning. Especially since the new clue says 30th anniversary. Everyone knows that this year is Eagle's 30th birthday. I do still expect a big announcement in the next month or two. Stay tuned on this thread!

EDIT: While watching a Cubs segment on WGN 9, a commercial came on saying Eagle is running backwards starting August.

The "first" announcement is American Eagle Blue running backwards starting next week through September 17th. However, Six Flags posted...

If you liked guessing this announcement, just wait until later this fall

That was on their Facebook page. So as we guessed, a big announcement IS coming! If it lives up to the hype, it will be the biggest announcement since 2003 for the park.

Six Flags Great America/Hurricane Harbor
After a long 21 year history at the park, we will be removing Iron Wolf. Make sure to get your last rides in – Iron Wolf’s Last Stand is September 5.

Interesting to see the park deny it over and over, and then this comes out. Six Flags is obviously semi-re-instituting the ride (more like roller coaster) rotation program. I honestly feel like this came from corporate, and the park didn't really have a clue (they may have had some indications). This also leaves two really large unused areas in the park. The Iron Wolf area and the Splashwater Falls area. I doubt the 2012 will be so big that it uses both of the areas, but you never know. Either way I'm obviously missing out on something big when I go this fall. That's a shame. It's also a shame I'm missing out on Iron Wolf, at least it's not too far away at SFA (at least that's what everyone is saying will happen).

It just baffles me that they'd remove a roller coaster, especially one of some significance, when you already have another unused, open area in the park to build a large scale attraction.

Edit: I suppose there is an upside to this... Iron Wolf's longevity probably just spiked between possible new trains and a refurbishment in its relocation.

2013 Agenda: Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Dollywood, Dollywood's Splash Country, and Carowinds.

Coaster Count: 120 - Griffon Count: 52

If you ask the people that go to the park regularly, they are all for this. Apparently Iron Wold is the ride everyone loves to hate (apparently it's really rough and hurts a lot). So, maybe the park (and corporate) finally got the message. I feel really sorry for SFA if they get it, even if it's only half as bad as the SFGAm people are making it out to be. If it's that bad just scrap it, and SFA should get something new.

There's still the rumor that SFA is getting a stand-up, and Iron Wolf is definitely not a stand-up.

I don't think they should scrap IW. It's the first B&M coaster and it deserves to be relocated. No ride B&M has made have been scrapped, and SFGAm won't scrap it.

If it does go to SFA, where would it go? Is the Two Face lot in use or is there still some room there?
