Allegedly park staff are saying that IW is going to the scrapyard; corporate has deemed it to be un-salvageable. Given its relatively late closing, if we get a replacement in 2012 it will most likely be a copy of SFMM's Green Lantern: First Flight. Personally I would rather have to wait till 2013 for a much large coaster, potentially that DM we've been wanting for so long. But I think SFMM will probably go the first route, putting in a new thriller that's cheap and will get a quick ROI. If you want to read more of my in depth thoughts on this issue, check the SFGAm Future thread were I expounded a little bit more.

A Green Latern wouldn't be aweful, especially if they add another coaster in 2013 (wing rider for example). Is it possible to add a Zacspin in Carousel Plaza? Say, behind the Carousel with all the trees that's in between the unused train station and the path by the cotton candy stand. On a map it looks big enough, but probably not for a queue line and it might be on a hill which won't work. Unless they remove the cotton candy shop and make that whole area for a new attraction.

I was more thinking of the Zacspin as a revitalization effort for County Fair after it loses Wolf. Its a fairly compact coaster and perfectly fits its space. I can't really see another large coaster going there, but a Zacspin could definitely fit.

^I agree. Especially if two new coasters are added in the County Fair area in the next few years, that will boost that section back up to speed. I wonder what the possibility is of a new water ride anytime soon. They did lose SWF a few years back and added BB in 2009 but that was a total flop. Do you see the flumes leaving anytime soon and maybe replaced by a newer STR type flume?

With that said, has Yankee Clipper been running yet this year or is it still just Logger's Run?

Yankee Clipper only runs on peak capacity days. Both are a high cost to maintain but Loggers Run is the favorite of the two and they need another water ride. Even with all the new waterpark additions, the dry side of the park still needs at least 3 water rides (including BB), so they can't afford to take out YC &LR unless they have a good replacement. And you can't take out just one, cause of the way they intertwine. Personally, I would rather seen those two both taken out for a Mack watercoaster the likes of Poseidon than lose Iron Wolf but that's not how things went.

Yankee Clipper personally is my favorite side but it hardly ever runs, even on busy days it seems. I hope they do consider replacing both sometime soon because the water is disgusting, the rides barely get you wet, and they seem pretty outdated. A lineup of BB, rapids, and a Mack flume would be very nice indeed!

According to the Park's website:

See what's coming to Six Flags Great America in 2012. We'll reveal it one piece at a time on Facebook. See if you can solve the puzzle. Get the whole picture on September 1.

Hopefully we will be able to figure out what type of ride it is before the 1st. It still won't ruin the fun either if we know ahead of time because on the 1st is when they will release all stats and the name so still a lot to look forward to in under 2 weeks.

Begin Hersheypark caliber viral marketing campaign shortened into a 10 day period.

Yeah right. No one will top what they just did.

Usually SFGAm does these short campaigns if any at all. I'm glad they are getting the GP involved though like with what they did with AE running backwards. I hope it's a bit more than just a puzzle though (probably just a puzzle).

Not sure why anyone would want to. Other than keep a few coaster dorks busy, how does such a marketing campaign benefit the company?

As long as the coaster is built I'm happy! :) Still, it is kind of nice to hype up the ride before hand as long as it doesn't disappoint. It does add a lot of excitement for everybody, or almost everybody.

The only advantage I see is that it gets some guest in the park on the day of the announcement.

True...but don't most announcements? Or are most announcements held for press only?

Most announcements are sent out to a handful of media outlets and then it's eventually picked up by something like Google News or Yahoo News as they post their stories online. Also as people hear from their local media, they post on forums, which then gets to things like Screamscape and then on and on it goes.

It says we will reveal it one piece at a time. This makes me wonder if they will do more than one piece a day. If they don't then by the 1st the puzzle won't be completely revealed and they would have to remove the a lot of remaining pieces all on the same day which would seem funny. They probably will do one a day though to not ruin the surprise.

I think it will be one a day; they will make it so that no one is able to fully guess the image before September 1st. Very similar to how they did the AE backwards announcement, there was still quite a bit that was hidden.

And, for what it's worth, the next line appears to have a RLD... could be WORLD.

It's a good thing we have you aboard to help us with this puzzle! Posted Image I'm still sticking with wing rider, I just don't see how any other coaster smaller than that would work. Maybe a Mack launcher wouldn't be so bad but definitely no ZacSpin unless they add something else with it.

EDIT: Matt, I agree with you.

If it wasn't for Eagle "ruining the tracks while backwards", I would love to have it stay that way. I had the most fun on it a couple weeks ago when it was running backwards again.

With Splashwater Fall and Iron Wolf gone I couldn't imagine a smaller addition like a ZacSpin, which a lot of people have been predicting, not necessarily on these boards, but yeah. Construction/more clearing is going on in the Splashwater Falls area, and I just have a feeling we're going to see a larger addition considering they haven't gotten anything "big" since Superman - Ultimate Flight in 2003. Though I don't plan on following the viral stuff closely I will take a look every now and then, but more so just waiting for September 1. I personally would love to see a B&M Wing Rider and while I'm not usually one to be a proponent of wanting to see these big additions, this one has already been rumored and it'd fit really well.

2013 Agenda: Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Dollywood, Dollywood's Splash Country, and Carowinds.

Coaster Count: 120 - Griffon Count: 52
