This is great to hear! Although I don't own a 3DS, and probably never will, it's nice to hear that the franchise hasn't died. The last RollerCoaster Tycoon to come out was way back in 2004. Maybe there will be a RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 in the near future!
Well put. I'm as well glad to see RCT back in action, though it is on a gaming platform I don't own and never will own. This might be the first signs of the RCT series revival and I do hope Atari goes through with RCT4 in the coming years.

The ONLY reason this is being made is because it's in 3D and they remember watching the roller coaster scene in Despicable Me and thought that would be a sweet thing to do with their newfound technology, and then took an old franchise so they don't actually have to think and design things from the ground up.
Actually, this game may be a step backward, because if it fails to get good reviews and/or fails to sell well, they may decide to buck the franchise for good and we'll never get RCT 4. Only my processor is happy about that prospect.

Little in RCT is really intended for arrow keys and A & B buttons. It's a PC game, therefore, we can have a gazillion different little menus and all you have to do is move your mouse into a slightly different spot, rather than press A and then right six times.
The 3DS has a touch screen, so it would be like using a mouse, actually...
Anyway, while I didn't really intend to buy a 3DS (mostly because I played it for five minutes once and it made me feel nauseous), curiosity might get the better of me. I also want Mario Kart for it, and a few other games, so maybe in like two years I'll buy it once they come out with "the next big thing" I'll look into a used one

It looks absolutely horrible. Seriously, it looks WORSE than RCT3. The grid system is still there, the pre-formed track pieces are still there, the ugly pole supports are still there... this is an absolute disaster. I thought by now they would have at least redesigned the engine instead of using the same outdated, seven year old one.
This better be just a test or something. They should have just gone with the original isometric graphics.

I found it on Atari's website. Look at the screen shots at the bottom. It Looks almost identical to RCT3. I wonder how they will execute the two screens. Maybe have the top one for viewing and bottom for building?

So, I guess the reason I'm upset over this is because I'm scared-- yes, scared-- that this is their idea of "good enough", and that this idea will influence the development of "RCT4", so that it ends up being... well, not what I or the Atari fanbase want it to be.
But since this is just for the 3DS, then, you're right Thunderhead, this is probably why it's a lower quality RCT3. It's just that... I don't know... I get worried about things like this.
