Another summer and another show about roller coasters.
Travel Channel has chosen several coasters to be put to a vote as which the best in each category.

Category 1: G-Force Giants.
Featuring:

Apollo’s Chariot at Busch Gardens Williamsburg
Afterburn at Carowinds
Category 2: Hang 'em High
Featuring:
Manta at Sea World Orlando
Montu at Busch Gardens Tampa
Alpengeist at Busch Gardens Williamsburg
Aftershock at Silverwood
Category 3: Splintering Speedsters
Featuring:
Thunderhead at Dollywood
El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure
The Beast at Kings Island
The Voyage at Holiday World
Category 4: Wrong Way Up
Featuring:
Kraken at Sea World Orlando
Wild Eagle at Dollywood
Hydra the Revenge at Dorney Park
Vortex at Kings Island
Categories 5 & 6, Extreme Heights and Speed Demons haven't released their coasters.

Ok, this is how I would vote in each category:
Apollo’s Chariot
Alpengeist
Thunderhead
Kraken
NO FEAR !!
Park Count = 44
Ride Count = 295

Anyway, I voted Afterburn and Alpie respectively, and for Splinterin', I'd pick El Toro. Don't think I'd vote for the 4th category.
When Yahoo, New York Post, or Travel Channel do something like this I seldom agree with their lists. I would say that they should leave this kind of thing to the "experts". The "Splintering Speedsters" is the only group that made any sense.
I have to agree that I seldom agree with their lists, and I have no problem with public polls, but it would make everything far more interesting if they used enthusiast-ranked top coasters instead of seemingly random ones. Why aren't either of the giovanola sisters in the g-force giants? Just doesn't make sense to me. *shrug*
