Its finally here and officially real. The long rumored and awaited GCI woody for California's Great America will become a reality in 2013. With the name of Gold Striker and a layout that seems to be a sweet blend of Thunderhead and Apocalypse (formerly Terminator Salvation), this looks to be a great addition to the already stunning GCI portfolio. Though perhaps overshadowed by RMC's two new inverting woodies to debut next year, this is definitely one to watch.

It looks to be a great addition to California's Great America. I think the height could be a little higher, considering that "The Tallest and fastest roller coaster in Northern California" isnt exactly the greatest marketing line. The layout looks great, though.

Love the ride, and it looks really twisty, with influence from both Thunderhead, Apocalypse, and a little of Renegade too, with s-curve after s-curve after s-curve.

I figured it would try and nab some dismal record like that.

Lackluster advertising aside, this looks to be yet another superb addition from GCI. I like the wrap around of Star Tower, not to mention that low high banked curve at the bottom reminiscent of Troy. Station fly by's/fly through's are also always welcome as this one does so right from the get go. Not much to nit pick on, especially for a park getting a new coaster after going 11 years since their last new coaster in Psycho Mouse and 2 key removals in Invertigo and Stealth. I'm very happy for CGA in getting this.

He was there because CGA doesn't have a Public Relations manager.

Everyone has to market something now days though... I agree though.

Perfect, concise description of this ride. I LOVE the theme and placement. Up front and bold, the gold mining California theme fits really well especially with the 49ers opening up the new stadium in a year or so.

Can I just say how much I love this ride? From an industry addition standpoint and the ride itself. Theme, headchoppers, airtime, banked turns, G's, sustained speed. That crazy unique first drop where it's straight then curves off and pulls a Troy so to speak. Look the wraparound the Sky Tower also.

This layout looks so good. Unpredictable and it weaves in and out and over itself all the time. Good use of high and low points height-wise and length and sharpness also.

2013 Agenda: Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Dollywood, Dollywood's Splash Country, and Carowinds.

Coaster Count: 120 - Griffon Count: 52

I don't know why this thread hasn't seen any updates in nearly two months, but construction is moving quickly on this. I stumbled upon a local who's keeping up a construction blog that has some decent pics on it to show how this thing is coming along. http://au13watch.blogspot.com/
