i think they could add a loop around the upward lunch inside the mountain, kinda of like how Kumba loop goes around the lift hill.

or they should just add a helix inside the mountain because you come into the breaks with way to much excess speed

I would be all for them lengthening Volcano to include a nice section inside of the mountain, that would just make my #1 coaster even better.

There might be room for a small inversion or two in there, like a vertical loop or cobra roll, and possibly a helix. The position of the final brakes would have to be adjusted so that they are probably 90 degrees from the unloading area as apposed to the current 180.

Maybe some year, or decade, in the future...

that would really make this maybe the best coaster on the east coast or maybe the world... i would rather have them do that than get a new coaster in 2005

or instead of turning back 180 degrees into the station, how a bout a giant cut back? It might have to go out side, but it would be awsome!

or they could at least fix up the inside of the volcano, when you lanch upward, it's all supports.

There is enough room around it to do stuff.

But I must say, at least a helix or loop would make it seconds longer then it is, which is around 50 some second.

I've been thinking it through, and this is what I would do to Volcano:

Add a Vertical Loop right after the 80-foot dive into the mountain, possibly slightly inclined if the mountain isn't tall enough at that part. Then the track would dive underneath the new brake run and head up into an Overbanked Turn, Top Hat or Cobra Roll, one of those elements which would turn the train around 225 degrees and send it back under the brake run. From there, the course would do a low 315-degree Carousel Curve banked at 90 degrees climbing over a simulated lava pit like PKI's Tomb Raider, right into the new brake run, and around the final L-turn to the left to the unloading area.

How does that sound? B)

That is an awesome idea!

Instead of having a sidewinder element bringing you out of the volcano, what about a vertical loop? You know, the train can speed up the vertical loop then it could dive down the side of the mountain and finish it from there.

But the only trouble with editing the origional ridse would be the fact that the mountain would first have to be dismantled for the new track to go into place and then rebuilt. So in a way, it would cost a lot more and would be a long job to do. Maybe stretching into the season times! I think it sounds cool though

Well that was kind of how some pre-opening artwork portrayed Volcano, Anaconda.

But I think that the way the first inversion is is perfect. And there really wouldn't be anywhere for a loop to pull out or go, with the whole brake run / station / queue area right out there in front. I think that erupting out of the mountain and then 'avalanching' around the side really creates a cool effect.

BTW, when I rode Volcano for the last time of the season in 2003, I did look up into the mountain on the brake run, and noticed that there isn't really the kind of space that would be needed for my idea above. But it still would be entirely possible to extend the track out the side of the mountain, especially if Avalanche is removed (although I wouldn't want to see that happen).

Kraken, they did have to do that in 1998, but only a small amount of the mountain (the very top, which was rebuilt). AFAIK, none of the mountain where the brake run and station is had to be removed. Here's a picture:

It looks amazing seeing them rebuilding a ride! The could extend the mountain and the ride out into the area inside the first big bend after the launch. There is quite a bit of space in the middle, i think they could pull it off! But very unlikely

What about the area between the mountain and the twist right after the first lanch? Would there be room for something there? But then you would have a problem with how to end it. So i still suppose extending the straight after the drop into the mountain into a cut back into final brakes. It might be doable around avalances lift hill, and would be a cool effect.

You mean basically between the brake run and station? No room there. But then you go back a little more into the mountain and it's just a mess of supports with some gaps of space in there. If you're standing in line, just after you enter the mountain, look up, and you'll see what I'm talking about. I think that adding onto the layout with more track outside of the mountain would be the best bet though.

BTW, here's a picture I found showing the mountain beforehand, just to give an idea of how much it's already been modified:

I think that they should make the loop higer then what it is now. I also think that they should make the ride longer and a little bite faster.
