Ok, i searched for a forum on amusement park collections and couldn't find one, so i made one. Now, i have what is right now a very small collection of amusement park maps, some brochures, passes/tickets, and small things like that. I only got interested in that about 2-3 years ago, so all i have is what i've been collecting together since then, and what i just happened to still have from before then. Anyway, I've been wanting to expand my collection, but other than our yearly family vacation to a park, the only one near enough to me (that I wouldn't have to spend the night or soemthing) is Carowinds (so obviously I go a lot). So it's really hard to expand my collection.

But i have an idea for sharing that would cost nothing, or very little. I was wondering if anyone would be willing/interested in doing almost like a park map trade. Like, when you go to your home park, pick up a few extra maps on the way out, and trade (i.e. I send you a carowinds map, you send me a map from your home park). This wouldn't cost anyone more than a stamp and envelope. Or, if you have some extra stuff you don't want and wouldn't mind sending with it (and aren't going to be picky about, "i got a park map and i sent some extra stuff"), then send it too (i'm talking small things that are leftover or FREE...like the ticket you put in your window from parking, a few leftover arcade tickets with the park name on them, an extra game token, your ticket stub--or card since some parks use those--, a smashed penny, or anything of the sort with like a park name or ride name or logo, etc. that costs little or no money).

If anyone would be interested in trading in a sense like this to expand collections, please PM me. Or, if you don't care about collecting or getting the "even trade" (meaning everything you send me you want equal back, so you wouldn't mind sending a few extra things in an envelope as long as it costs the same to send) and would be willing to send me a map or anything, please PM me!! I'm really interested in park maps, but would just as gladly take anything else your willing to send. The main reason i brought up this idea is because it is cheap, i mean, maps and brochures are free (from a park or rest stop, etc), keeping your ticket stub, free; keeping parking ticket, free; token/ticket from arcade, cheap/leftover. Instead of throwing things like these out, i would greatly appreciate it if you sent it to me (even if i have to mail you the stamp, lol).

And in general, what do you guys think of this idea?

I love the idea, and I'll be sure to get with you about trading some park maps/brochures. I have a small collection of my own of about 10 to 15 park maps/brochures, but I know I have about 5 to 10 more that I put in a box in my closet the other day. So I'll have more once I find them and pull them out. I'll be leaving to visit family later today, so I'll be sure to get with you once I get back either Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning. It's always great to have little souvenirs from an amusement park that will remind you of the great time(s) you had there.

Awesome!! Yea, I only have one of each map (if i have a second, it's probably bent), a few from FL from the past 2 years, and a couple of others, but that's it. I really just started this last summer and am only getting really serious now (I was inspired by an article on collections in an old back issue of Roller Coaster magazine). So from this point on, i will be getting everything i can (that i mentioned) from every park i go to, and maybe a few extra maps for the "trading." Right now all i would have to trade would be carowinds maps, and maybe i can get some extras of other stuff while i'm there (play the arcade and bring back some tokens and tickets), but the main reason i thought of this is because of the fact that i can't build up my collection well due to my distance from parks and that i can't afford to go to many (debt + hotel and park costs = more debt). But now that i had this thought, when i do go, i'll be sure to get the things i can and some extras just in case

Usually if you e-mail an amusement park and ask them for a park map/brochure and you give them your address, they'll send it to you. So if you want to gain a couple of park maps that way that'd be cool. I'm going to do a little of that myself. I don't really have much of anything besides park maps/brochures and personal items like ride photos and ect, but I wish I did.

ohhhhhh, i forgot about that...i guess i'll be doing that here for the next few days, emailing some parks i'm interested in getting maps from, then use carowinds or any extras i get to trade for other maps or trade for other little things (like the arcade tokens/tickets, etc) that you can only get at the parks. I still think the "trading" aspect would be kind of fun too lol

UK Park maps...anyone? I have about 5 Oakwood maps from this year. Thorpe and Chessie i can get... and, um Blackpool i'll pick up on sat, har.

My maps are all over the wall, but i only started collecting late last year... so i've only got 11. Boo.

EDIT: About brosures.. i have a Thorpe Park "corperate event" book my dad got sent at work. Har, few thousand to rent our Colossucks? pft.

And Alton send out Hotel Brosures that have some ride pics, but not really a lot, in. Since they are pretendign to be a resort now, and stuff.

I am going to Six Flags Over Georgia Labor Day weekend, and I will probably pick up 4 or 5 giant maps. I will probably trade all but two off.

As of now, I only have a Six Flags Elitch Gardens Giant map, and that is NOT going anywhere. And well, I do have a small SFOG map, but that doesn't really count.

I would really like to trade for a SFMM, SFGAdv, and SFGam map. Anyone who is interested, just contact me.

This sounds like a good idea. It kinda reminds me of the baseball cards and the Pokemon cards.

But why don't you just print the maps from your computer? I printed out Six Flags St. Louis one and a Kentucky kingdom. But if you guys want the real thing and not the bootlegg version then I completely understand that. You see I go to many theme parks but I usually just forget about the maps and lose them. I might have a Busch Gardens Africa one but I don't really know where it is. And I should have remembered to bring the IOA and Universal Studios map! I don't know where those are either. But in the end of August I am going to SixFlags Great Adventure and maybe Hershey Park but thats if my family changes there minds. But I am definently going to SFGADV so I'll make sure to pick up a few SFGADV maps. I don't know if AstroLand has a map but if it does I'll get it and only two of them because AstroLand has got to be a rare map.

^yea, i think most of us in this thread would rather have the real thing than the bootleg. Plus it requires a very good printer, and lots of color ink (which could end up costing more than just trading maps if you have to keep buying ne cartridges).

Anyway, yesterday and the day before i cleaned out the top drawer of my dresser which has been holding oddball goodies and items for years and discovered a few arcade tickets, tokens, a few entrance tickets, and even a few more maps. When i cleaned out my cabinet yesterday, i found about 10-15 more maps or so, so i'm gonna post the maps i have here and the number. Any maps i have more than one of are up for immediate trade, some of the others might take a bit more negotiating from me for lol (i like my maps, so any i have one of i'll probably want to keep):

Today was like Christmas for me, I got a bunch of new maps and brochures in the mail, check them out. Also, I discovered a brochure my friend brought me from Liseberg from when she visited Sweden. All the new stuff is bold, italic, and green. I guess this is a second note, whenever i add something, i will format it this way for at least a few days (may go with a different color though).

I have to admit, this seems like a good idea. I will have to raid my room later on to see what stuff I have left over. I have a few old shirts that I have outgrown, mainly from Florida, I don't know whether people will be interested in those though.

Everytime I go to a park I tell myself to get loads of maps and stuff, but they always get ruined or lost by the time I leave.

I have many new maps up for trading, but I have so many that I'm not going to edit them into my collection list that I have already posted. Over the past two days I've receive 47 Walt Disney World maps/brochures and 1 Disneyland Paris map/brochure. All of these maps range from the year 1997 to 2001. Also, I've received 29 Universal Studios Orlando, (including Islands of Adventure), maps/brochures. They range from the years 1998 to 2001.
