I was looking on Vekoma's website, and it turns out, Vekoma has designed a 10 inversion coaster! Though no park has it yet, so far only one company has actually built a coaster that has inversions that are in double digits. Still, most of Vekoma's coasters are rough, so if a park gets it, I'd be interested to see what it turned out to be. What do you think of the idea?

^^Actually Intamin designed Colossus for Thorpe Park in 2002 which has 10 inversions and currently holds the inversion record. http://rcdb.com/id1412.htm

When I said one company, I ment only one company has actually built a ten inversion coaster. Plus, there is actually a clone of it.

Actually, the world record for the most inversions on a single rollercoaster is 14. This coaster with 14 inversions is Eejanaika, the S&S Power 4th Dimension coaster, at Fuji-Q Highland in Japan. Even though the track itself only flips riders twice, the Guinness Book of World Records has given Eejanaika the record because the seats on Eejanaika flip a total of 12 times, and then you add the original two inversions to get a grand total of 14 inversions.
Also, Colossus at Thorpe Park isn't the only coaster with 10 inversions. This year a new park opened in China named Chimelong Paradise. The park signature attraction is a clone of Colossus called the Tenth Ring Roller Coaster.
2010: Kings Dominion (All Year), Washington DC Pilgrimage, and Cedar Point.
2011: BGE (All Year), Six Flags Over Georgia, Six Flags America, Six Flags Great Adventure, and (possibly) Europe.
Overall Top 5: 1. Thunderhead 2. Kraken 3. Millennium Force 4. Apollo's Chariot 5. Maverick
Coaster Count: 102 - Griffon Count: 49 - Big Bad Wolf (1984-2009) - Great American Scream Machine (1989-2010)

Colossus was the record holder until another park matched it with a clone... China isn't it?

Colossucks was a clone it'self, mind you. Few people know this. There are 2 8 inversion versions lacking the two final inlines.

There are 4 'Colossus' worldwide. Two with 8 inversions, to with 10.

Now... Anwyay.

Vekoma being rough is a very overated statement. Ride a new Vekoma... and then tell me they are rough. I've recently learnt that B&M's, for example, are only so darn expencive because of their wheels. And, if a Vekoma is well looked after... it would be relativly smooth.

When i rode Kumali, Flamingoland's 'custom' (actually has a cloen in Asia, i think) SLC after oepning week i was SHOCKED at the smoothness of it. It was B&M smooth. And a friend of mine comments that when he first rode Disney Paris' R&R he was onyl just becomign an enthusiast and had heard the B&M's are smooth, Vekoma's are rough" theory... and Thoguth R&R was a B&M.

Colossucks is the roughest coaster i have ridden. Theres rough rough with age, theres a fun crazy rough and then theres that awful rattly roughness accumpanied by grinding and screaching. Colossus is a slow, lacking ride. It's layout is dull and unimaginative and one fo it's trains are in such appauling condition it's roughness is just to the degree where i don't want to ride it anymore.

It has suffered the same fait as a lot of Vekoma's. Vekoma's are cheap. They are bought by parks that are less likley to maintain there rides. If you look at Disney's Vekoma's, you can't really fault them, can you? Because Disney look after them. Colossus has suffered the havign extras added to it's trains over time and not enough attention payed to the strain it puts on the track. It's being left to rot... And i really don't care.

The Vekoma multilooper in France, er... in Parc Asterix... Aparently is hell. That has 8 inversions? It'a slo got a drawn out an unimaginative layout, says thsoe who've ridden it. I have not.

Inversiosn are massivly overated, full stop and lots of them only causes rides to be repetative and boring from experiance and heresay.

EDIT: God the quality of the post is appauling. Tiredness.. Apologies. I had to ride Collosucks today. Oh joy.

I rode Colossus yesterday (Monday) and found it smooth. Other than a moment of roughness on the first inline, it was fine. Goudrix at Parc Asterix has 7 inversions and gave me a splitting headache. Easily the roughest coaster I've ridden. I havn't ridden Kumali, but I have heard a lot of good things about it. If Vekoma can crack smooth coasters then I think this 10 inversion coaster will work well.

Colossus... smooth? Same sentence?

Colossus is that appauling rattly sort of rough. It's worse than Vekoma rough. At least Vekoma rough is fun.

I rode Colossucks on Sunday and it wasn't as bad as usual. But i thinkwe had 'the good train'. One of Colossus' trains is significently worse than the other. I had also rained int he morning.

Rain makes Colossus significently smoother, also. Which is unusual. But it really does. I've ridden it in appauling weather and loved it. It's awful on a hot day. It really grinds and screaches... peice of [censored].

Goudrix si the one i was thinking of in france. That does indeed look rather hellish.

The only reason Kumali is smooth is because it's new. The park won't maintain it's wheels and it will get faster and rougher with age, like all coasters. Vekoma's just age far quicker. If given enough TLC, they stay smooth. It's their cheapo whells that are the problem.

^Lol, funny post.

Ok, I have never ridden a vekoma that was new so I can't really say anything. I only ridden old ones like Mind Eraser, but I would love to ride a new vekoma. Especially Kumali, it looks pretty fun and the drop ain't that bad either.

Does anyone have a picture of this ''10 inversion'' vekoma? I bet it would look nasty!

Life is like a roller coaster. It's one wild ride with many ups and downs and all you can do is hold on and enjoy the ride. ~CSF~

Thanks for the links. I actually expected this ''10 inversion'' coaster to be all over the place, but it is pretty compact. I would hate to see this coaster to go to waste. One thing I don't like about it is the red on the coaster. it reminds me to much of all the Mind Erasers out there. Not only a Mind Eraser, but also Colossus. This coaster is like a mixed breed between a Mind Eraser and Colossus. But other then that, it looks fun. I wonder which park will claim this coaster for there own?

I'd like to see it in the U.S.A. But, I think that Paramont Canada's Wonderland needs another really good coaster, and if they would be willing to put up the effort to take good care of a Vekoma, I would be just as happy to see them get it.

Actually, as of this year there are three 8-inversion clones--Flight of the Phoenix just opened in January.

After reading Rob Alvey's comment on Gouderix...

...I hope Vekoma are banned from making this ten looper.

True. I rode it once and it was quite smooth. Then I rode it again later in the day and it was significantly rougher. This 10 inversion coaster should be OK. If they can perfect it's roughness and the launch at the start (That's what it looks like) Then it could be better than the Intamin.

It WOULD be better than Colossus ride wise, simply because Colossus is so dang awful... But who knows if the 10 inversion clone and the 8 inversion clones of Colossus are as rough?

Does anyone know if the other "Colossus's" have the same trains?

It's Colossus layout and gimmic that bores me. Inlines never where that interesting before, now they are quite simply boring. Colossus is repetative, slow and takes it's inversions in a very bog-standard layout. It looks visually stunning, but it really lacks any significent ride.

Saying that, most consider it quite forceful. I strongly dissagree and i think it hasn't got the drastic changes in force and constant speed that o assosiate with 'forceful' coaster. The general public really love it, though... which says a lot about me as an enthusiast and i'm sure many others.

The restraints look diff, but then Colossus' where edited anyway.

Who knows. The clone is really bad looking though. Blue and orange is hot, but not like that! haha.

read the bottom they might get this concept to work good.

Riders experience a launch from zero to 90 kilometers per hour in less than three seconds on our LSM (Linear Synchronic Motor) Launch Coasters.

The power of the launch forces you back into your seat with more than 1.5 G grasping for breath.

A number of fast turns and smooth inversions let you experience this marvelous roller coaster ride with its three inversions and a maximum G-force of 4.5 G's.

In new designs launch speed can even be increased up to 150 kilometers per hour!

To reduce power demand, our newest launch coasters can also be equipped with a new hydraulic launch system.

I never ridden a Vekoma launch coaster and I would love to just for the fun of it even though it's poo.

I actually like the colors of Tenth Ring and I think they look better then Colossus's. I would expect some people to disagree with me.
