This coaster is becomming more the present than the future, so I thought it should be given it's own place for discussion and the "SFMM Future," can return to concerns for improvement, and future ride predictions/wishes, ect...

So far what we know about this coaster is...

It's is a wooden coaster made by GCI
It is rumored to be themed/named after the Terminator Salvation movie
Concrete framing started the first week of October.
I'm trying to get to the park as often as I can, but I wont have too many pictures of construction until erection begins.

Here are my pictures from 10/12/2008

^some concrete framing for the slab that will soon be our next coaster.

Posted Image

^OMG! a water truck! it is going to be a wooden water coaster! The grading looks complete, I wouldn't expect these trucks to be on site next weekend.

Posted Image

More framing... I don't like that the coaster will be on a giant slab of concrete. Surprisingly a lot of dumpsters also... I guess everything is a custom cut though! Free Fire Wood!

Looking at these two pictures, it looks like this new coaster takes up about the same amount of room as Psyclone did.

Looking at the land that was graded and now being framed, they kind of look the same size

Don't worry, I'll be at the park as much as possible too ;)
And, the area looks a lot bigger than I thought! It's wide and long. Could be GCI's biggest yet. There's also a little news on screamscape, 2009 - Terminator / GCI Wooden Coaster - In Development - (10/14/08) It has been pointed out that in the last couple of years GCI has built up a few of their coasters using the giant concrete slab approach for the footers. Evel Knievel at Six Flags St. Louis was done this way last year as was Troy at Toverland, which you can see here. The link to "here" is just a pic on rcdb.com of Troy at Toverland

Yeah, It makes the coaster stronger as a whole. I think that an issue that led to Psyclones demise. I think my next visit is the first weekend of November (Sunday.) I was close to getting what I wanted with the coaster approaching Cyclone 500.

This looks like it should actualy be quite a bit larger than Psyclone. Notice in the Psyclone footprint pic all of the trees that seperated it from the pathway. Those trees are no longer there and the framing for the slab goes almost all the way to that path. Also I like how the concrete will be form fittion to the coaster. On the path side you can already see the forms bend out to accomodate those awesome GCI turns. I'm really hoping that this turns out to be pretty much a slightly larger version of Troy becaus that ride looks incredible.

On the 5th pic, where there's kind of a carved area of where Psyclone and the trees were, does anone think it'll go past that, and all the way back to the skinny road? If it does, it'll definitely be bigger than any GCI.

I doubt it will be the next big GCI because Shapiro hinted it would be more of a family coaster. I would it imagine being 90ft. to 100ft. Here is my prediction of it's layout... bare with we.

Posted Image

I think the station (Red) will be around the same place as Psyclone's station with the same entry just past Déjà Vu. The ride will leave the station, turn around, and up the lift hill.

I think the layout will be similiar to most GCI's. It'll probably go up to the top of the lift on the Cyclone 500 side, then curve down on it's side and do whatever. The station could really be anywhere too...

oh... pretty.

This seems to me like it'll be a nice typical GCI.

Wow :dork: , I can't believe this. I just saw it, and it's better than I thought it would be. I know it just shows one little animated picture, but I have a feeling it will look something like that. It has everything a GCI should have. Speed, multiple hills, several banked turns, a station fly through, and a long ride. Plus, it'll be a bit higher than some other GCI's. I also love that drop that curves two ways. That should add some extra speed :P ooh and the effects look very nice. I also expect this to have good theming.

It does seem very typical GCI... but still, out the choices we had (GCI Woody, The Dark Knight, Tony Hawk's Big Spin) I got what I wanted. Correct me if I'm wrong, this will be the first wooden coaster with visual and audio (On board sound?) effect?

Yeah...

Terminator: The Coaster = Lame

Terminator: The Ride = Better

Terminator = Best?

Well, they already named it, so...

Anyway, this is a very good replacement for Psyclone. Thankfully, I never got to ride it.

That picture looks increadible. It kinda reminds me of the Crystal Beach Traver Cyclone, which is a ride I always thought needed to be rebuilt with today's technology. Hopefully this GCI creation will live up to the reputation of that awesome ride.

For such a large park it still doesn't look like it's going to have enough capacity a brand new coaster with only 900 ish at MM I see some long lines in the future. They should have tried longer trains or a longer layout that will get them the space for three trains. It will probly turn out to be a good GCI but it's to small of a ride for such a large park.

^I think it will live up to capacity expectations well. Yeah, it only sports 2 trains, but its less than 3000 ft long. I would expect it would make up for the lack of trains by sheer short cycles. However you look at it, this will be a great addition to the park and a more than a worthy replacement of the hell on wheels its replacing.

This doesn't nessessarily have to do with SFMM's woody but do you guys think a dual station could work on a woody? I don't think I've ever heard of a wooden coaster having one.

^I don't see why it couldn't work. And, I'm glad this is in the back of the park. It will take people a while to get there because they'll still probably wanna ride X2 and Tatsu first. Plus, when you get back over there and it's your first time at the park, are you going to ride that wooden coaster or the huge green coaster above you that goes backwards "Deja Vu"? I'm not saying Deja Vu is or will be better than Terminator, but to the GM it sure will look like it. So, I'm not too worried about lines with this. And, if there is a long line, there will be probably be some GREAT theming to look at while you wait.

^^ I doubt it wood work because of potential problems with the wood changing in size and shape to often.

Does anyone think that a Terminator theme on a wooden coaster is the dumbest idea ever? While the ride looks great, I can see people walk up to the ride and be confused seeing as a wooden coaster doesn't seem very "Terminator-y".

^Yeah, even a hybrid would have made a huge improvement on the theme. They do kind of have the whole future and past collide thing... wood, on-board sound, visual (who knows) effects. As far as layout goes though, the coaster is a bit short, but every second looks really exciting.

I have a question though. I know GCI has done a few station fly-thrus, but is the first time it they have done one the goes through the real ride station?
