About Me
Hey my name is Grant and I live in Texas. My screen name comes from the old Texas Cyclone wooden roller coaster that used to operate at my old home park Astroworld. That park has since been demolished and what is left is an empty plot of land full of memories. Astroworld is what began my interest in roller coasters and theme parks and even though it is long gone, my love for roller coasters has grown since then. Currently I've ridden over 100 roller coasters and I'm still looking to ride even more. Aside from roller coasters, I love Soccer, both watching and playing it. I'm an avid fan of the Houston Dynamo.Whenever I'm bored at home I'll get on RCT3 sometimes. I sing in my school's choir and outside of school I like hanging out with my friends and having a good time. It's fun getting on Coaster-net and talking to people who share my same interest in coasters. I'm glad to be a part of such a great community.

Why Cedar Point will get left in dust
01 April 2012 - 04:16 PM
I've been thinking about this for quite awhile and finally decided to make a post about it. I'm going to be frank here; Cedar Point is on track to get left behind. It's got its "coaster record" but big whoop. The park hasn't opened a coaster for five years and Cedar Fair is obviously shifting their attention to other parks like Canada's Wonderland (hint hint Leviathan) and Kings Dominion (Intimidator 305 anyone?). Cedar Point is old and even right now it's a disappointment of a park. The rides have no theming and the park is a let down. You can have tons of coasters but with quantity is not always quality. While other parks use new ride technology Cedar Point thought it could tag along and add "WindSeeker" but how special is that when it was added to a bunch of other parks too. When it comes to big additions, Cedar Point is short on space while Cedar Fair's other parks have great potential. It all adds up and I think Cedar Fair is best just to sell the park before maintaining the 17 aging coasters becomes to much to bear. Cedar Fair has other premier parks with bright futures and Cedar Point is not one of them. Discussion is welcome here but y'all know that I'm right.

! I actually believe Cedar Point is a thriving park and it currently is my favorite amusement park I've ever been to.

San Antonio Spring Break PTR: SeaWorld and Fiesta Texas
09 March 2012 - 06:12 PM
Hey everyone, I will be going to San Antonio this next week and will be visiting Six Flags Fiesta Texas and SeaWorld. I'll be taking general park and ride photos at SeaWorld and Fiesta Texas and special SkyScreamer construction photos as well (most likely). Besides these, does anyone have any special photo requests?
Look for just a SkyScreamer update to be uploaded first sometime during this week and then next weekend a full PTR of the parks.

The Galveston Island Pleasure Pier
29 January 2012 - 01:25 AM
Galveston Island, Texas' old pleasure pier used to house the Flagship Hotel which was damaged in 2008 by Hurricane Ike. Now Tilman Fertitta (same guy who owns the Kemah Boardwalk) is turning it into a Pleasure Pier full of rides and awesome stuff.
The pier is set to finish by this Summer. Here is a rendering of the pier which was just released today:

Some highlights of the pier:
-The "Iron Shark" Coaster- A 100 ft. tall Euro-Fighter with 4 inversions
-A 230 ft. tall "Texas Star Flyer"
-100 ft. tall Ferris Wheel
-A Family Log Flume type water ride
and a lot more flat rides.
You can read all the details here. The pier also has a VERY informative facebook page that post construction photos every other day. This is a very exciting project that will really boost tourism in Galveston.

A Coaster and its Queue
26 December 2011 - 03:41 AM
Now I recently got my winter copy of Orlando Attractions Magazine (don't know if any of y'all read it or not, it's pretty cool) and their top 10 section was comparing ride queues. Which I think is a pretty interesting topic because queues for coasters and rides in general differ so much.
You have your basic queues (something like Raptor's at Cedar Point) but then you have queues like Expedition Everest's where the queue is used to tell a story or interest the guest. So I just thought I'd open it up to y'all and ask what some of your favorite queues are.
My favorite (and also the magazine's) is without a doubt the queue for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. The queue literally is like a tour of the castle and makes waiting in line for a ride not nearly as dreadful.
