"About me"... haha... so much I could say... well, how about a memory that comes to mind instead? The memory is of a time back in 1990 when on a trip to New Mexico with a group of 47+ individuals en route to a place called Philmont for a backpacking trek. The bus portion involved several scenic stops/tours along the way. One of those stops was the Houston Astrodome for a behind-the-scenes look at the stadium/facility. I remember nothing really about the Astrodome. What I do remember was standing in the parking lot looking across the street at SF Astroworld... with rides spinning and moving, coasters coasting, and people enjoying the place I'd have rather been! It didn't help that a local Mickey D's (where we stopped for some meal) had placemats in their trays advertising the new ride that year, "Ultra Twister" (dang it!). Astroworld, of course, closed in 2005... and along with it's demise went any opportunity I would have to return and visit. (This is sad, I know. However, on a brighter side, our group DID stop at Opryland on the return leg of that multi-week adventure! ... and I have some fond recollections of riding "Chaos", among other rides, with good friends that day.)
