I guess I would have to call myself a man with a number of interests over the years that I throw myself into with a full passion--coasters included.
For most my life that has been most obvious in the various fields of athletics, I was one of those shy guys that was always considered "too small" to play major team sports--I graduated HS @ 17 being ~5' 8 1/2" & 140#. I think I luved proving people wrong as much as succeeding for myself.
I played Lacrosse in college & was a competive runner for ~20 years, yea, longer than most of you have been breathing, I know.
Today, I go about 5' 9 1/2" & 175# & I still luv playing football, b'ball, lifting, & running with teens & old folks, as I've coached & trained many people over the years.
Another major interest in my life has been music, an area where I am a very UN-gifted person; none the less, the same passion, tenacity, and dedication that brought success in athletics, by God's grace has allowed me to sing & play Bass in bands & choirs that I NEVER would have thought possible earlier in my life. My wife & kids have greatly helped me in this area also, as they are all far more gifted than myself--in fact, music ed. with a keyboard prof. is my sons major in college.
I "discovered" a luv for coasters in 98'--hence my "birth" date--I've always been a speed freak but also have a paralyzing fear of heights, so coasters have allowed me to overcome that fear, to a point!! If I have a goal, its to ride coasters till I'm gone from this place called earth.
Other interests are hiking, from mountains to marshes; identifying all sorts of wildlife from birds to salamanders; the one peaceful thing I do is garden, no kidding, and I actually enjoy mowing the lawn, when I make time.
TV, computer games, & reading take up a little dead time, especially in the winter months.
Oh, and I luv doing as much of all this with my family as I can--it makes it all that much more special.
Thats me in a "nut" shell.

^A "launch" coaster of most any type would have been a great addition @ SFOG too, but I'm stoked and excited about them getting an EF, especially with those new 6-seat trains...they look ultra cool in the photos of Huracan I've seen.
A thought, with the dif trains, less steep first drop, and longer, more drawn out layout probable, will this EF be as thrilling as the older, 1st generation? (my term, perhaps "new modification" is a better, more accurate term, idk)
Still, I absolutely luved SFOG, and with Deja Vu gone they really needed another unique, thrill ride there, imo. Props to SFand the OG ownership which approved this...I likey, alot^_^ .
Maybe next year gets a little more interesting..and busy, perhaps I'll see you there Matthew.
PS; how's the first couple weeks of college going? Did I miss your PM?? -

Alright, time to finish this lil' thing up;
-Flying Trapeze; just a simple swing that we did to "take a break" and chil-lax for a short time. Still got a tad dizzy, and cooled off by the breeze, so it was all good. FT a solid 6.5 for basic fu...enjoyment.
-Raging River; a fairly standard Raft ride, enjoyable course, and a perfect late afternoon ride when the sun was trying to peek out and the humidity was peaking. Not too mention I got decently wet, not too dry, not drowned...thank you. Rate @ "7".
-Condor; I have never even seen this older Huss type of ride...I guess the closest thing is Flying Falcons @ Hershey. Hey, this ride gets quite high (~100' I would think) Again, I got more than a little dizzy, it peaked at a fairly fast rpm...nice. For uniqueness alone, it rates high, no lines and some great views...another "7". Anyone care to opine on Flying Falcons??
So that's my 19 total rides on 11 different vehicles of FUN, yes, I did say that, didn't I?
-This park was important for me to do because I hadn't done a NY park ever, even though I've lived in the state my whole life.
Also, it looks like I may be moving later on 'cause I've taken a new job in Maryland, Frederick, to be exact, before the end of the month.
Hey...at least I'll be much closer to many parks I want to hit in the future^_^ -

Yeah Ryan, we did take some real decent pics...but, living in the rural mountains of the Catskills makes me one of the last living members of the civilized world with dial-up. Yes, we could have a dish, but with both my guys in college and my personal financial challenges the last couple of years won't allow that extra.
Now, on to the flats:
-Sasquatch; now why we have to call Drop/Launch Towers and other vertical rides "flats" I just don't know...quess it's just because they aren't coasters^_^
*Note* As a matter of factual truth, I don't do Towers. The only one under my belt is the semi-enclosed Dr. Doom's Fearfall @ IOA a number of years ago. But...my son kinda nagged me to "man-up" and go for it, so I gave in and told him whatever side he wanted, I'd do. He choose the "Drop" side, my least fav way to go, and thankfully, there was no lines to help me change my mind, so...
Sasquatch is a new for 09' S&S Tower that is listed at 192' high with the standard(?) 4.5g launch, and 2.5g drop. Well, I had to focus real hard on the park itself as we slowly were raised to the top. Of course, they held us there for 7-8 seconds as they asked us if we were "ready" (heck yeah!).
It was great fun and I actually told the fam that I'd do the launch later...and that was even better, much more so to me.
Now Sasquatch is another "sponsered" ride, this one by Jack Links Beef Jerky, which makes perfect sense, and with the big LCD monitors running unique stories of "Sasquatch" on the tube, you laugh all the way to your seat. Give Sasquatch a "9" for great themeing and good experience for me...hey, I've got almost nothing else to compare it to!?
-Thunder Alley; the rest of these should go quickly (ha), TA is an ancient car/electric track deal set to the 50's theme with mid 50's Cadillacs, Corvettes, and Thunderbirds. I got a pastel blue 'bird and used the run to take all sorts of really cool pics in the rain..rather sweet actually. Give TA a "5" for....fun, of course.
-Giant Wheel; now this is a classic, very old. It looks like a Ferris Wheel with Gondola's instead of the normal FW seats. Believe it or not, with it's very low sides and only a pole in the middle to hold on to (if ya wanted to hold on to something, and yeah, I did). When it stopped at the top, some 90' in the air, the wind was blowing pretty strong and I got a shot of vertigo. Even Ben, my son, got a bit dizzy, which he never does, and only my wife didn't as she pointed out the lack of seat belts, the gondola's movement, and anything else to make me turn green...and it worked:wacko: .
Give GW a solid "8" for being so unique and having the ability to "thrill" in a very quiet way.

Vater, on 08 August 2010 - 08:01 PM, said:Phoenix and Thunderhawk both have amazing ejector air in the front, and surprisingly little air in the back by comparison.
I have read many reviews on Phoenix that state you usually get air-time from every car, every seat, and that there is nowhere on that coaster that doesn't rock you...but it certainly sounds a bit crazy that the front would have the best air overall...wow...
Isn't Thunderhawk your fav woodie Vater?? If so, "amazing ejector air from the front" is probably one of the reasons why. I just gotta ride some of these other great woodies sooner rather than later. -

^Interesting...but possible, idk.
The quote, "a thing like nowhere else in the world", well, wouldn't just having 3 launches be singularily unique to every other coaster in the world?
Unless I'm sadly mistaken, (yeah, I've been there a few times:P ), I don't know of any other 3 launch coasters out there. (Is there?)
And from what they seem to be indicating, there may be even more "uniqueness" coming with this ride....
