Code of Conduct
For All Members (Including Site Leadership):
I am a member of the COASTER-net Community for the purpose of belonging to a united, peaceful, laid-back community centered around the discussion of thrill rides and parks. I agree to generally maintain a good sense of humor to the best of my ability, realizing my own faults before those of other members. I also agree to try putting the interests of other members above my own in all situations.
I will do my part to stay informed on the rules and guidelines that help maintain order, and to openly discuss ways to further the Community. If I fail to understand any part of the Code of Conduct, I will ask for clarification in the Community Issues & Appeals Court board.
Conflict Resolution:
If another member personally offends me, I will resolve the problem in private, never letting it affect the public site. If it goes unsolved, I realize that I can contact any respected member of the Site Leadership to assist.
Appealing:
If I have a problem with site policies or action taken against myself or anyone else, I will respectfully post it on the Community Issues & Appeals Court board for review by Site Leadership.
Weekly Chat:
All of the public-forum rules above and their consequences below apply to the weekly Chat sessions as well as the forums.
Consequences:
I agree to the following consequences for their respective offenses and realize that "Consistent Violation" means twice within 60 days:
Once a member reaches 100% warn level, they will be banned for a period of 365 days. A second banning doubles that period to 730, a third doubles again to 1,460, and so on.
Exceptions / Unique Cases:
These are the general guidelines that constitute the basis of warnings and banning. However, Site Leadership reserves the right to deal with situations on a case-by-case basis.

For Site Leadership (Admins and Staff):
I am committed to doing everything in my power to maintain a friendly, peaceful, constructive environment for the discussion.
If a private member conflict arises and a member comes to me for intervention, I will do my best to assist in a quick resolution of the issue.
I will only remove a topic from the forums if a duplicate exists, the topic creator has asked me to before any thoughtful replies have taken place, or if the topic blatantly violates the Code of Conduct.
If a member contacts me about a cognitive disability that will affect other viewers such as dyslexia, I will notify the entire staff of it via the Staff Planning & Discussion board immediately.
If I need to take a leave of absence for longer than two days, I will inform the entire Staff and Admin team in advance via the Staff Planning & Discussion board. In the case of emergency leave, I will make my best attempt to contact a member of the Staff or Admin team either directly or indirectly as soon as possible. If another member of Site Leadership contacts me with an emergency leave of absence, I will inform the entire Staff and Admin team within two days.
I will remain well-versed on the Code of Conduct. If I have any questions about it, I will seek an answer through a new topic in the Staff Planning & Discussion board.
I agree to swiftly take action on any potential Code of Conduct violations in the fairest and most unbiased manner possible. If the violation does in fact exist, I will initiate the consequences as detailed under the "All Members" Code of Conduct. When increasing a member's warning level, I will include a brief summary of why the action was taken and the class of the offense in the reason for warning: either "Class 5," "Class 4," "Class 3," or "Class 2." For Class 1 offenses, I will bring the case before the Administration so that proper federal action may be taken. I will remain open for questions on my actions.
I will also regularly take part in reviewing cases on the Community Issues & Appeals Court board with the goal of every case being attended to as promptly as possible.
As a member of Site Leadership, I agree to be held to an even higher standard than that of all other members. Therefore, I agree to the following consequences for their respective classes of offense:

- Class 5: Spamming / Viewing Inconvenience Issues:
I will limit any advertisements to the Member Advertisements forum or my personal profile, signature, and avatar. I realize that double-posting is unacceptable unless 30 days have passed since my previous post and my new post contains information pertinent to the topic.
For viewing convenience, my signature will not exceed either seven lines of default text on 1024X768 screen or one 468X150px image.
I will do everything in my power to ensure that my posts are as intelligible as possible. If I have a cognitive disability such as dyslexia, I will notify the Site Leadership of it as soon as I join the site.
- Class 4: Conspiracy:
If another member breaks the Code of Conduct in a serious manner, I will inform Site Leadership on the Community Issues & Appeals Court board immediately.
- Class 3: Profanity:
In all public forums, I agree not to use any "four-letter-type" words, or other profane or vulgar speech. In the private forums (Staff, Elders, and Mature Topics & Discussion) I agree not to use any excessive profanity. If in doubt, I'll leave it out.
In the Mature Topics & Discussion forum, I realize that more serious topics such as discussion loosely related to sex, drugs, alcohol, smoking, or extreme violence goes is more acceptable as long as I don't simply try to push the limits toward anything graphic.
- Class 2: Attacking / Defamatory Speech:
I agree to never attack anyone for reasons including but not limited to: personal beliefs, personal life, length of membership on COASTER-net, age, disabilities, disadvantages, gender, or ethnicity. I also agree not to defame another's faith in ways such as using deities' names simply for rhetorical purposes. When I disagree with beliefs, debate issues, or correct ignorance, I will do so both peacefully and respectfully. When posting criticism, I will only do so constructively.
- Class 1: Illegal Activity:
I will never, under any circumstances, post any unlawful information or content of any kind, such as pornographic material or material encouraging illegal activities. I also realize that hacking of any kind falls under this same category.
Conflict Resolution:
If another member personally offends me, I will resolve the problem in private, never letting it affect the public site. If it goes unsolved, I realize that I can contact any respected member of the Site Leadership to assist.
