Morey's Piers to get "It"
A Ride called "It" will be coming to Morey's Piers
February 20, 2011 - Robert Taylor
Morey's Piers, Wildwood, New Jersey -
Morey's Piers is going to be getting a brand new attraction for the upcoming 2011 season. It will be located on the Surfside Pier of Morey's on 26th Street in North Wildwood. The name of the ride, that will be "It." The actual swinging pendulum type ride will be called "It" and will make its official debut in May of 2011.
As this ride seems to already resemble a Abbott and Costello Routine, it is almost certain a large number of conversations and talk will arise out of this. The motion of the ride will swing, spin, and fly to heights of over sixty-five, according to a written statement by the amusement park itself. Specially designed lap bars will also secure riders during the duration of the ride. There are several versions of this kind of ride already at amusement parks. One version would be the popular Kings Island "Delirium" or Cedar Point's "Max Air." However, "It" will be a smaller version of these, and instead of the seats facing outward on Deliruim/Max Air, they will face inward, where riders will be all facing one another. As far as the swinging motions go and what the ride actually does, this will be very similar in both versions. "It" will swing up to an angle past ninety degrees, 120 degrees to be exact, all while the center section rotates and the riders rotate around while being swung back and forth at the same time by the giant arm. The total ride capacity is only twenty-four passengers, with four passengers sitting in each section.
The theme park's Vice President, Jack Morey, says they are very proud to announce this ride and knows that the guests will enjoy it a lot. "It is just the beginning of our plans for the continued redevelopment of Surfside Pier," Morey also added. Look for the new ride to offer its first rides in May of 2011.
