Members of BGWFans.com and other sites, such as Screamscape, have posted pictures showing Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s Mach Tower drop tower is finally testing once again. Over the last few days, reports have been coming in that the ride has been hauled up to various levels, though very slowly and not rotating, and dropped back down. Rumors reported by Theme Park Tourist state the ride may finally make its delayed debut to the public at the end of July or early August.

While the ride is now at the point it is being hauled to the top of the 246-foot-tall tower, eyewitnesses have reported it being a very slow rise, much slower that the ride will likely go once it opens. Originally scheduled to open May 28, the ride was delayed by parts that needed to be ordered from Moser and installed. The first rumor was that there was a problem with the rides brakes that needed fixing, but more recent rumors from BGWFans.com reported that the rides shock absorbers at the base of the tower may not have been installed properly, if at all, causing damage to the ride vehicles. Again, however, the park has not confirmed any details about the problem and this is all speculation at this point.

Once Mach Tower opens, it will rotate as it rises up its 246-foot-tall tower, giving panoramic views of the park and the Williamsburg area before dropping guests at 60 mph, as it plummets back towards Earth. The park also promised some “surprises” at the top of the tower, but has given no other details about them yet.
