Pigeon Forge, TN -
It has been arguably the most talked about coaster under construction in the United States, but on September 4th the speculation will all come to an end. Dollywood
is all set to announce their new coaster for 2012 at the Boomsday Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee.
According to Business Wire
, Boomsday has grown into a huge Knoxville tradition that sees around 400,000 people line the city's riverfront. The star of the show is the largest labor day fireworks display in the nation. However, this year the fireworks come with a little added surprise as Dollywood's
new coaster's announcement will be part of the show. The Dollywood
website tells us to "Keep your eyes on the sky during the Boomsday fireworks show."
Although the coaster hasn't been announced yet, there are plenty of hints within Dollywood's
2012 site. Amongst the clues is the phrase, "The sky is not the limit", which is displayed several times. Also, next to a countdown clock is the image of an egg shaking, like it is about to hatch. These clues are fueling speculation that the ride will contain an eagle theme. Also, there is a section that gives you another clue if you answer a question about Dollywood
correctly. I won't spoil the fun, so head over to the site to uncover the clue on your own.
As mentioned earlier, there is plenty of speculation all over the internet as to what Dollywoood
has up their sleeves. It has been reported that blue Bolliger and Mabillard track has been spotted with the destination of Pigeon Forge. Also, most enthusiasts believe that this will be a wing walker coaster similar to Raptor
that just opened at Gardaland.
There are more reasons to watch the Boomsday show (either in person or online) than just finding out the attraction. Dollywood's
website gives information about a contest involving the show as well. The site reads, "Plus, learn the secret and you could win lifetime season passes to Dollywood
and Dollywood’s Splash Country
for your entire family, meet Dolly and be one of the first to ride Dollywood’s
newest attraction!" The season pass prize is for up to eight family members living within the same household.
In a statement posted by Business Wire
, Dolly Parton said, "Anticipation has been building for months, and I think Boomsday is the perfect occasion to unveil Dollywood’s
biggest plans ever. I’m as tight-lipped as can be but I will tell folks one thing: keep an eye toward the sky on Sept. 4 because we’re going to light it up with my big secret in a very explosive fashion."
