A man was saved from this tunnel after climbing in.
Alton Towers had a scary situation on their hands on May 8th. A man climbed the fence surrounding the tunnel of Alton Tower's popular coaster Oblivion. After entering the tunnel he had to be rescued by fire crews.
According to Theme Park Tourist the coaster was immediately stopped upon the realization that a man had entered the tunnel. Also, the surrounding area of the park, known as X Sector, had to be roped off while the man was being rescued. After being helped out of the tunnel the man was taken to University Hospital North Staffordshire. Theme Park Tourist is reporting that no one was injured in this situation.
In a quote posted by Theme Park Tourist, a spokesperson for Alton Towers said, "As with all our rides the area surrounding the Oblivion track is securely fenced off and ride operators reacted immediately in line with our well rehearsed safety procedures. A full investigation will now be carried out."
It is not currently known why the man decided to climb the fence and enter the tunnel of Oblivion. This information is likely to come as the result of the investigation underway by Alton Towers. Despite the investigation Oblivion opened as normal the next day.
Oblivion is famous for being the very first diving machine built by Bolliger and Mabillard. The coaster debuted in 1998 and has a creative design to get around the height limit set on rides at Alton Towers. In order to still have a thrilling vertical drop despite the height limit the coaster plunges underground at a 90 degree angle before pulling up and rocketing back out into daylight.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say he fell into the exit of the tunnel. There is no way he'd be uninjured falling into the entrance.
