New attractions on the way
Rumblings of some new attractions heading to the Philippines are getting louder as the park Enchanted Kingdom is set to make some additions in the next few months. The additions in part will work to fix capacity issues that the park has recently had.
According to BusinessMirror the park is expecting to open up a new "major-ride" before September of this year. In an interview with Business Mirror Enchanted Kingdom Chairman and President Mario O. Mamon said that they are putting a substantial investment into some new attractions.
Attendance has been on the rise at Enchanted Kingdom. Over the past couple of years the park has averaged an attendance of over 1 million guests per year. While high attendance is usually a good thing, it can also cause problems. Enchanted Kingdom noted that during peak holiday seasons the park can operate over capacity which can lead to a crowded park and dissatisfied guests.
The park is hoping that new attractions will allow the park to hold guests more efficiently. In the interview with Business Mirror Mamon said, "We’re looking forward to expanding our operations to be able to accommodate more guests at any one time."
The park expects attendance to keep on rising. Mamon noted that they expect annual attendance numbers to double within the next few years.
Enchanted Kingdom debuted to the world in 1995. The park is home to two coasters, both of which opened with the park in its inaugural year. Both coasters are Vekoma models with Roller Skater being a junior coaster and Space Shuttle being a boomerang.
The park plans to maintain their usual schedules throughout these additions.
