SFOG celebrates 45 years of thrilling guests.
Six Flags opened its second park, Six Flags Over Georgia, in June of 1967. Forty-five years later the park is still going strong and standing as one of only three parks built by Six Flags. The park's long lasting success is worthy of a celebration, and the park did just that on June 16th.
Six Flags Over Georgia held quite the celebration to honor their 45th anniversary. According to Peachtree Corners Life these activities included live entertainment as well as plenty of cupcakes and fireworks to top off the night.
Amongst the live performers was celebrity guest Jeff Foxworthy. Jeff is a famous comedian and is known for being a member of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. Also included in the live entertainment was jugglers, stilt-walkers, and musical performances.
In an interview posted by Peachtree Corners Life, park president Melinda Ashcraft said, "“It’s hard to believe that Six Flags Over Georgia has been entertaining guests for 45 years. Our youngest guests visit the park each day with their parents and grandparents, many of whom visited the park when they were children back in 1967”
Six Flags Over Georgia is currently home to 11 operating coasters. The most recent, the Gerstlauer Eurofighter coasterDare Devil Dive, debuted last year during the 2011 season.
