Year-round water park resort planned for NY

$30.6-Million-dollar project will become state's first

March 28, 2006 - Josh Davidson

Greek Peak Ski Resort - Construction is about to begin for central New York’s first ever combined water park and hotel. Greak Peak Ski Resort has their answer to staying open year-round: a $30.6-million expansion. The concept is one of the hottest trends in the industry, which is what persuaded private lenders to sign off on the project, said Al Kryger, president of Peak Resorts Inc. and a managing member of HLI Management LLC.The new area is planned to hold six slides, many pools, and many more under cover attractions."I've been in the ski business 48 years," Kryger said. "What do you do at a ski area in the summer to make it profitable? Golf courses seem to work, but not without real estate." This is planned to be similar to the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge, opened in February in the Lake George area. Many great things are planned for the new area to Greek Peak.
