In 1977, Blackpool Pleasure Beach unvieled a unique creation from Arrow Dynamics, Steeplechase. The ride takes you on a horse race through the trees, jumping over hedges and even a wall... all while traveling under and over several attractions. The ride is very similar to the defunct Wacky Soap Box Racers at Knott's Berry Farm in the fact that it features multiple tracks, which each consist of a single car on a single rail track. Steeplechase is one of Blackpool's many examples at how compact and convoluted the park is, yet retains a somewhat spacious surrounding.

Riders embark on one of eight horses on each side, which consist of the red, green and yellow tracks. A small dip and shallow curve leads to the 40 foot lift hill. Reaching the top, a shallow left curve takes riders past the helix on Pepsi Max Big One. A small dip and another curve to the left lead into two bunny hops, which take riders under the turnaround of Roller Coaster. A large banked left curve follows, and briefly straightens out. A shallow right curve passes under another portion Roller Coaster's turnaround, and leads into another bunny hop. Right after that, a large right turn leads into a hop over a wall. One final left turn passes through a set of hedges, and the horse soon ends up on the second lift hill. Disembarking from the lift hill, a small hop sends riders over the turnaround of Big Dipper and the park's go-kart tracks. An s-bend passes over another portion of Big Dipper, and leads into another hop. A large right turn soon sends riders through the final race to the finish. Several final hops conclude the race, and the horse returns to the station.
