PortAventura, in Salou, Spain has a selection of both thrill and family rides. Rides like Dragon Khan and Furious Baco give great examples of theming and thrills. PortAventura is also no stranger to smaller rides as well, like El Diablo, also known as Tren de la Mina, and Tomahawk.Tomahawk is a family coaster manufactured by the defunct Custom Coasters International, or CCI for short. It's even smaller than Kingdom Coaster at Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, PA (which was CCI's first coaster) with a height of 44 feet and a top speed of 30 MPH. It also isn't very long, with a very short duration of 1 minute, 10 seconds over a track length of 1444 feet. The ride also runs parallel to the other wooden coaster at the park, Stampida, which is almost twice as tall and is double tracked.Tomahawk will take a while to find in the park, having to go around the lake from the park entrance, but you will get there eventually.
The entrance is in the Far West section of the park next to Stampida[/i]. When boarding the five car trains from the Philadelphia Toboggan Company, you strap up your seat belt and pull down your lap bar. Once the thumbs up is given, you slowly roll out of the station, into a wide radius turn and straightaway, which leads into the 44 foot lift.At the bottom of the first drop, you are to the left of Stampida's twin first drop and speeding under the final turnaround of Tomahawk at 30 MPH, which acts as a head chopper for riders, making it look like your head is going to get hit.

If you're lucky, Stampida's trains will be speeding down their first drop at the same time adding to the exhilaration. A high left hand turnaround after the first drop is taken very slowly adding the anticipation of first time riders. Dropping down again, you lead into a curving airtime hill. The next right turn follows, with it being very under banked and wide, providing a decent amount of lateral gravitational forces. The next element is an airtime hill, giving a lot of ejector negative forces, diving down to a very low altitude. Going up again, you slowly turn to the left, banking slightly. The concluding dive is another airtime filled hill toward the ground, slowing you to a stop in the final brake run. After unbuckling your seat belt and restraining device, you walk down the ramp, turning back toward the entrance to Tomahawk to ride again.
