Six Flags New England

Last Update: January 1, 2013

Once again, Six Flags has shown their talent for converting small amusement parks into theme park destinations by completely revamping what was once known as Riverside park into Six Flags New England.

And with the 4-year, 100-million dollar conversion came what many believed to be at the top of the 'most anticipated coasters' list of the year 2000. Out of all three of the Superman: Ride of Steels at Six Flags parks in the North East United States, the New England park's version stands out as the highest, fastest, longest Superman coaster also with the most hills. But along with those Superman records, this park's version also features many other differances such as longer trains, underground tunnels, overbanked turns and diving helixes.

To really discover the uniqueness of this coaster, thrill-riders can choose their one of 36 seats and start off on Superman: Ride of Steel's course. After a dip and 90-degree turn a steep ascent into the sky brings riders to the highest point in no time at all, perfectly situated parellel to the Connecticut River. As the train gains speed quickly, the riders dive into a mist-filled tunnel 13 feet below water level before rocketing out and up an airtime-delivering hill. Diving back down, the first 120-degree overbanked curve follows before plunging into a quick ravine and shooting up a third hill. After another camelback, the transfromation into a twister coaster begins and passengers get whisked through two fast helixes and a rabbit hop. The second tunnel is encountered next, followed by the last bunny hops into the brakes.
