> Superman: Ride of Steel

For the opening of Warner Bros. Movie World's new park in Spain for 2002, one of the most unique coasters to ride above the track free of floor will make it's debut. Superman: Ride of Steel - WBMW's version of the concept invented by B&M in 1999 - will take it several extra steps in the way of layout, being the first floorless coaster to feature an Immelman inversion where the other rides have Diving Loops, and throwing in an element sure to please for this type of thrillride - A never-before-seen Camelback Hump. Along with unique layout elements, Superman delivers an eye-catching yellow and red track, an added bonus to an already unique coaster. Soaring over 7 inversions, this Superman coaster is unlike any other, most similar, of course though, to Superman Krypton Coaster which opened in 2000 at Six Flags Fiesta Texas.
After being carried up 164 feet in the sky, the chain releases, leaving riders flying like a bird or plane down the initial drop. Up, up and over the coaster flys, around the top of a standard Vertical Loop, but an element experienced unlike most others with rider's feet dangling over the track. The next maneuver, the Immelman, provides the reverse of the other floorless coaster's Dive Loops - this inversion sends the train up through the half of a loop before diving back to the ground via a half-corkscrew-like twist. And, next, a coaster enthusiast favorite - a Zero-G Roll - provides weightlessness while twisting head-over-heals through the sky, just like Superman himself. The Cobra Roll follows and flips the track over twice before reversing the course's direction 180-degrees. But, next, is where the true floating airtime is sure to kick in - the Camelback sends the train up and then back to the ground, setting the ride up for a set of Interlocking Corkscrews. But, that's not the finale of this Superman. Following those inversions, two helices send the train spinning in all horizontal directions and finish off the ride.
If you want to experience the true sensation of soaring with Superman, head to Warner Brothers Movie World and to just that!
