Ever since the Matterhorn Bobsleds opened in Disneyland, California, the revolution of roller coasters has changed. Ride developers opened their eyes to the endless possibilities of using tubular steel track instead of wood. Rides were then made at heights, speeds, and forces never before imagined.

Rides were popping all over the place at extreme heights. Wars began between amusement parks to build the tallest, fastest, and most extreme coasters. Rides were being built at hundred feet and today four-hundred feet! To get rides at extreme heights ride developers use launches, which are very popular as of today.

These new extreme rides had many flaws to them. They were not reliable, cost a lot of money, and may even be dangerous for the rider. These flaws may mean that rides should be built with more uniqueness and do not have to be very extreme to be exciting and fun. Explore the coaster wars and how ride developers may have pushed roller coasters to the max.
